Drrrrrr wrote:The 1v1 Boggz vs Old game was not that great...Old lost because Boggz is a master of micro. Especially with hard hull ships its a strong opponent. Imo Old lost in the mid game where he was not able to take out vorchas and KBQ. Going for Negvar was nice but not needed imo.

I don't understand why you would say this.  This statement is incorrect.

It was masterful micro on the part of both players.  I firmly believe that Boggz couldn't have taken out those 4 dodes before the diamonds came out if he hadn't built neghvar.  And if he hadn't killed them when he did he would have lost.

If you can't recognize this as an excellent game, something is wrong with your perspective.

I don't understand why you would say this.

Lets keep it this way. You said anything relevant on your own.

Thanks to Clintsat and Ray, and the players, for providing us with those really nice replays and commentaries - always enjoyable to watch.

@Drrrrr: stop bitching, OTP really did a goog job. (Boggz a slightly better one of course^^)

I've got one question / suggestion / comment:
Would be nice, if you got guest commentaries by the players, to let em talk a bit more about their basic thinking at a specific point, like Acheron building every available fed unit (except the Sovereign) - as an example.
Might help newbies to understand the game, and at least everyone  gets some kind of insight in different ways of playing this game or an avatar.

just my 2 cents

he actually skipped the norway :P (of course he also skipped risner units, as he was mayson, but he wasnt in control of that). i think he was just trying to get something capable of sorting out those leahvals. mons were dying too fast to the number of griffins, intreps of course dont work because they get countered, akiras arent perfect as leahvals do more dmg to them too. nova as well take more dmg from leahvals. warpins were getting mini countered as well.  personally i would have just made more e2/canavs, as the entire rom fleet was medium sized. then continuously attack along 1 line to keep otp responding and mitigating the low speed of the e2/can. shame the game was over before the defiants got major fun, they would have got the job done too, there's few jobs defiants cant do :D

Myles mostly hit on the head. his fleet mix was precountering just about everything. I should have gone more canaveral heavy but I am not sure this late a date just how much trit I had kicking around. I was hoping defiants would be the game breaker as neither side could get enough of a knock out blow in.

The biggest issue is ray can't ask questions when we are fighting as we'd ignore him and well that was a very attacking centric game. Almost the entire replay one or the other side was on the offensive. A failed offensive by either old time or myself was a good jumping point for our offense. Major turning points

Was his failure to get the right side expansion ship yarded up.

Losing those ships to my venture cloak detect turning a massively powerful offense in his favour into a rout.

My lack of a ship he didn't have a counter to other than the E2/ canaveral was hurting as well. Also my investing into tech 3 slowed me up some.

My lack of noticing talons also was an issue. Not sure why that slipped me so easily.

Hey Clint, have you changed something in your setup? I ask because in your more recent replays it's gotten extremely hard to hear you.

actually you couldnt see them, they have advanced cloak, fed sensor plats only have blue standard pings, not the green pings needed to make talons visible. ventures are what you use to make a talon visible. klingon scouts have standard cloak and so have to be much more careful where they fly. if you had spotted the talons your entire fleet would have blown the talons to shreds easily before you could beam to them.

i also find this, his voice seems quiet compared to the effects.

All right!  As some of you know, I started doing replays last week.  It's taken me a very long time to get everything sorted out and the first few have some problems with them, but here they are anyway!

First game: Rainbowkiller and Kamk vs Fusszeh and Zap.
Map: Centauri Epsilon V1.1

I'm afraid my mic wasn't aligned well and you can hear me breathing.  Also it's not full-size.  Better videos to come, I promise!  :sweatdrop:

3 Parts:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OlJq2kf_Kw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOz1NkHvX-k

Now, I need some help.  How can I register with the replay section of the guide?  And can anybody tell me how to make these videos "responses" to each other so they're easier to watch?

best pm dom or zebh about that :)

with youtube video responses im not sure, also you could put annotations at the end of the video, just a tiny bit before the end, put a pause trigger, with link annotations to the next vids.

EDIT: oh and congrats on the first vid. 100 internets for you!

@Acheron: thanks for sharing some thoughts of your game. Thought you guys commented after the game, my mistake.

@Tryptic: very good work. Just fix the full size, and... well, i've got nothing to add, except: more please :D

Replay #2

Rainbowkiller, Kamk, and Armada Tiger vs Fuzzseh, Drrrrrr, and Stardust
Map: Plasma Conduit 0.5

Still haven't fixed my voice volume in this one, but the video is good and the game is good.

2 Parts:

Enjoy!

(The super awesome game is number 4, I'm getting to it slowly...)
