Lag...

Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

Any way to bring the lag down? I have a top of the line machine, I'm hoping I don't have to bring the graphics down.

By "lag" are you referring to the extreme lag you get when you have cloaked ships, explosions, etc.
If yes, then no, there's no good way to do it right now. It's due to limitations of the old (read: "ancient") A2 rendering engine. The next version is due to bring improvements. You could try turning off some things like anti-aliasing and turning down the graphics detail, but I don't think it will help a whole lot.

yeah I don't even have anti-aliasing on. Hopefully it'll be smoothed out a bit with the next update.

Lag in multiplayer or in single player (skirmish)?

Please give us more information about your system, and especially when the lag occurs.
Cloak, explosions, with many AI, or even with one at start directly, whole game or just the mouse?

I've notice it occuring when I cloak things, or when there are explosions. The number of AI isn't the issue, it can occur with one or more. The whole game lags, not just the mouse. However, I would say the cloaking issue is most important. My computer has: Intel i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30GHz, with 8 GB of ram, and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M. It should have no problem handling this, it plays Skyrim on high settings with minimal lag thoughout. I've also scrolled up while it occurs, if I scroll up and there are no cloaked objects on my screen the lag goes away.

I played again and noticed it when ships would come out through a wormhole. It was pretty smooth during most explosions, so its the cloak and wormholes.

Yeah I get it all the time with cloaking ships, particualy when I park them in the enemy base and drop the cloak :D Stutter stutter, straws and explosions everywhere then it carms down. Poor knackered old A2 engine.
