Ok, so here my problem.  I have had a copy of Star Trek Armada 2 for....going on 5 years or so now.  I'm relatively sure but I may have had it longer than that though.  As I have moved 10+ times in those 5 years the disk is so badly scratched and unreadable that I found myself looking for a new copy as soon as I discovered the arrival of FO and its necessity for the disk.  I am still searching for a way to solve this myself but after 3 weeks of looking I find myself here.

I can find ways to play Armada 2 normally.  But I desperately want to play Fleet Ops.  Its the best of the best in mods and frankly I'm at my wits end.  Searching for a new copy is futile.  I love the game but I'm NOT paying $100+ for another copy as they are priced on Ebay. AND this Star Trek Action Pack that Activision released isn't even locatable on their site anymore.  Let alone in stores.

All that long winded hub-bub said I throw myself at your mercy.  Help, please.

Sorry for the long wait on response. I found a NoCD for regular Armada 2 patch 1.1 but the nocd for patch for 1.2 just doesn't exist in a readily available place.  Which is what I would need to run Fleet ops without my poor disk.  :(

There are nocd patches available that work with flt ops. (I use one myself) but they are not compatable with multiplayer.

You need a CD image mounting program to mount .ISO files. I use Daemon Tools. Google it. I wont explain where you get the CD Image file but as far as I know virtual CD emulation is totally legit...just not what your emulating...

actualy i found that PowerISO is much faster and more effiecient... and its compatible with 64bit OS. The Daemon tools has a 64bit exe but its as useful as a biscut raft.

Hmmmm... I never had this problem because I always use copies of the A2 disk, and when a copy stops working, make a new one. I always find this very conveinient for me. Maybe if you ever get another A2 disk, you should try doing this. And try to follow my simple steps to help reduce scratches:

- Avoid contact with the data side of the disk as much as possible, for proper holding, have your pointer finger in the hole in the center of the disk, and other fingers on the rim.
- Keep out of reach of children (by children, I mean anyone who doesn't know how to take care of CDs)
- Always store it in a CD case to reduce chance of unintentional scratching
- Do not store CDs in humid, or high temperature areas, as this can risk damaging the disk even if in its case
- Avoid putting CDs in areas of repeating existence of magnetic feilds (this would include: Above TV or monitors, near areas with large amounts of eletrical flow, and on other high power appliances)
- Avoid stacking CDs, as the graphic side (or title side as some call it) can scratch the data side of other disks

If you follow these tips, you won't have to worry about your CDs all that much.

yeah, I'm sure there are tons of no cd cracks, as long as you have the game already installed.

of course, they would be useless if they didn't allow that.
