thanks, you too.  I need to work on my turret building.  I do it too much out of my fear for not enough defense, and there fore deplete my resources and don't have enough for ships.

really though, thanks for playing.  i'm learning every time I get beat, and I really did do better the second time, even though i got creamed just as bad

yeah you had a nice fleet, i wouldnt build turrets until you start making some ships or get warp in, cus they probably wont attack you until then, but it always depends on your opponent and their race, idk how many ships you had when i attacked your warp in with mining, but that mighta been a good chance to attack, also when you did that big assault on me and took out my two mining ships, when you do that, dont focus on the mining, focus on my ships, you had a good sized fleet there, and coulda inflicted alot of damange on my fleet but by focusing on my mining ships, there wasnt alot of fire on my fleet so i took you down easily, while loosing two mining and a norway or two, which is a very small price to pay for taking out your fleet

also i would develope all of your mining rather quickly, and when you do build turrets, dont build them around the main base, build them by your mining, and you dont need to go overboard, 3-4 will do, as long as you have some ships stationed there, most players will attack your mining bases first, instead of your main base as they dont want to face the power of your starbase, and your main base people will assume is stronger, so you need to worry bout you smaller base, now you can add a few turrets at your main base later, to protect what the starbase cant reach, i added one, but id focus on mining defenses and then your main fleet

turrets cant be offensive, but ships can be both offensive and defensive, that being said turrets help, they have greater defense and greater offense then ships, and a good fire rate and range, so that being said, as you mighta seen in my mining base, i had 3 turrets, (i added a 4th just before i attacked and defeated you) and all those turrets were there for is support, there not meant to defeat a large attack force, they are meant to support my ships in case you attack, so i wouldnt go turret crazy, but build some to support your ships in an attack as they are powerful and can be a pain to take out,

yeah, I've found that if the enemy breaks your line, turrets in the main base do no good.

thanks for the advice.  I have always thought that taking out the mining and ignoring the ships was a better plan, but I will try it the other way around, ans see how it go's.

Yeah turrets just by a mining outpost is good, cus its a small are to protect, but not so much in base,

yeah going for mining is good, if you use a small fast fleet, but using warpins to attack mining is very good specialy in team battles and such, just warp where you know their fleet is, and take out a mining ship or two, can be very effective and not a big price to pay, but with a big fleet, if you focus on mining, your fleet will be dead, and as you saw you lost your whole fleet, mine gained expirience so they were stronger, and all you took out were two mining, so it depends on the situation
