Galaxy and Nebula

Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

I have a good question. Why aren;t the Galaxy and Nebula class available to be built at a shipyard. They are still very recent, I doubt the Federation would have stopped building them by now. It is kind of weird just to have them as a warp in, (besides too many Excelsiors there anyway) because they were still building them during the Dominion War, and afterwards, so why stop just for the classes. I think  they should be build able. The same with the steamrunner, come to think of it. She was made and new at about the exact same time the Sovereign was developed, so she should be build able too. She could give those blasted Serkas a run for their money!

FO has revised their history, to remove them and make room for more FO-exclusive ships.

As well as being they are special units that is why they were made for the the warp in units along with the Decent class.  It does make them random and I will agree, that I will send an excel out to die just so I can try to get one of them.  Though I think they should be a crutial part of the normal build fleet.  I do see reason as that I have gotten a Galaxy and it goes the distance if you watch it and keep it held up right.  In a sizable fleet of certain ships it will do that a good amount of damage and hold its own.  Only thing its missing is the separation.  However, the draw backs would be, as far as I can see, is a drop in offensive and defensive power doing this.  Though it does create two more targets.

Yeah, I guess it does make a little sense, but I would imagine that starfleet would keep on building them, despite having their limitations. I still think they should be buildable, maybe in a side shipyard. Like those ones that orbit earth. They could make Galaxy, Nebula, and Steamrunner class ships, and their refits.

That's how I rationalize it; save the Shipyards in the battlezone for building war-focused ships to get warships as fast as possible, while some of the Warp-ins are built elsewhere.

The Galaxy has far too many names for them all to be rare and pre-built.

You know I have to say that I modded an enormous overall for Armada I back in the day and (before it was completely wiped out by a fried external *sad* ) I came across the problem where I felt there were just too many cool and interesting fed ships out there to include as buildable.  Their purpose seemed to get lost when there were too many in the build menu to choose from.

Thus it just seemed a little silly to include them all as buildable options.  I rather like these vessels coming in as special through the warp-in, though I do wish they felt a bit more like "Special Ships" than just brute force.  Face it: the Galaxy's only ability is just a damage-shields based change, the Nebula (well I won't go into how much I'm disappointed in the Nebula), the Excel is a grunt and the Ambassador is like that really slow kid in the neighborhood that you want to make fun of but would feel bad about doing.

I'd like to see more options for Warp-in vessels and more unique / useful abilities on each.

I just discovered that there is a mapobject somewhere under federation-uncommon stuff, the mckinley- yard, which can build all warpin ships. so if you want them buildable, just insert this nice yard into your favorite map^^

It's been discussed many times and some including myself have argued ships such as the Galaxy, Nebula, Excelsior, and Miranda should all be builldable as they were prominently featured during the Dominion War and continually upgraded through the years. However, it's been moofed by popular vote.
