This is from the Freelance forums; for those who don't know it's a mod for Elite Force which has now decided to go independent like Excalibur. But anyway, check the last image in this post, it features an Excelsior-II.  :woot:
Freelance Forums - Choose a ship Class

Although you have to then read the post below it because that guy totally shoots the Excelsior-II down. :crybaby: :hmmm: If only he knew its power.

Bunch of idiots... and what's that about the Galaxy not being streamlined? Someone evidently hasn't even seen a Galaxy before.

How do you call an Excelsior-II ugly?

If by streamlined they mean flat as a pancake, then no, the Galaxy isn't very streamlined, but neither is oh say the Constitution. It is odd though how depending on what angle you view a Galaxy at it can completely change its apparent form; from some angles it can appear short and squat, while from others long and graceful.

As for the Excelsior-II, I've always thought the pylons were a bit weird, but as a whole it's not "ugly".

I don't understand why people seem to prefer "streamlined" ships in space. It's a vacuum, a giant amorphous cluster of shapes taped together will move just as well through a vacuum as a streamlined ship. I personally love the Excell-2's

Streamlined looks good, boxy looks ugly. Is any more reason needed?

Flat as a pancake isn't a good way to put it, only the nacelle pylons are flat. It fits the streamline definition (Having flowing, graceful lines; sleek) much better than the Intrepid, though a bit less than the Sovereign.

Yes.  :whistling:
TUN's absolutely right imo. In fact I prefer non-streamlined ships. You can google e.g. Teladi ship designs. They are pretty ugly if you're into streamlined designs. I like 'em. They've got something industrial and dirty ^-^
ST ships in general are everything but functional in design. They are nice to look at but honestly nothing anyone would consider to build.

More on topic I have no clue where the EII is ugly. It's a nice ship and it works as successor of the Excelsior.
But I guess we don't have to care about their taste anyway  :sweatdrop:

I think it looks bad in that particular image because the others are more detailed, while it looks very bland. It looks just the absolute wrong color of greyish. Besides those two problems, the big wedge thing on its saucer is just too big and looks out of place, and the parts linking the nacelles to the body are too angular as is much of the ship in that area. The ship is also unusually dark.
Adding to the problem, the original Excelsior was designed to look good from the front, but from the sides or above or below it just looks way too long.
I personally would like to see a better E2 (and Saber, its model shares some of the E2 problems) model in FO. Something like the image above the FO screenie (has more contrast and more true to the original Excelsior design), but with a better saucer, would be really cool.

Hm, would be nice if they'd taken a pic of just the Excel-2 like they did the other designs rather than with a fleet from a distance...

re their discussion on warp nacelles, I really want someone to point out the Defiant-class to them...

They just used a stock image from one of the News Posts  ^-^

Besides, why do we care what some dork with poor grammar skills and a bad hair cut thinks about the Excelsior II?

Nice to see FO getting recognized, however. ^-^

It could use a new model and textures it is a bit ugly when you see it up close but not its shape just the model to low poly and blocky and textures.
