K i just got a question, i remeber like 7 months ago optec was saying that the feds would be getting an overhaul soon, like in 3.08 or somthing so seeing as thie is 3.10, im just wondering if a fed redo is gonna happen at any point

Erm well I'm not entirely sure what Optec has planned ... but I am excited nonetheless!

like I said in game, I think they need a way to convert tritanium(even if it was 2 - 1) to dilithium.

other than that I just think that phaser platforms cost too much because they ere basically useless.

either way, I too would love to see a fed upgrade...maybe a new experimental ship for warpin? :whistling:

The Feds will be upgraded when a decent Galaxy-X, armored Intrepid and Wells Class is available.

Why do you think they need those things?  At the moment the Feds still reign as the most powerful faction (in online play at least).

The new Phaser platforms are amazing because they are very powerful, cheap to build, and suffer no damage reduction vs cruisers or battleships.  The Pulse Platforms have just that and are now both weaker and farther back in the tech tree.  Also, they are exceedingly fast to build at 70 seconds for Risner and 53   seconds for Mayson.  The Feds spend very little money on ship in the very early part of the game compared to the others and can very quickly afford to throw down turrets at both the main base and the exp.

Oh and PLEASE don't ask for the Warp-in to be strengthened.  It's fiiiiinally balanced  :(

no, no, no, I wasn't saying those things because they lacked(can't speak for the platforms though)  I just always have an excess of tritanium and can always use more dilithium.  and I don't think having a viraity of experimental ships would be unbalanced.  not if it was done correctally.  the descent on its own isn't that powerful anyway.

It was actually a joke. The Wells Class is a Class from the far future in the Voyager series, the USS Relativity was one.

Boggz, i also think new warp in would be cool, its not stengthening it its giving it options, for instance maybye a promethius class, and instead of soaking up fire it has a good offense and costs more warp in slots, because there are warp in slots, you could adjust it for different ships, so maybye a descent is 4, and a promethius 5 or somthing, and you could even have a killer death machine for 10, idk i also think that normal warp in should get some more variety, consitution and such,

you could also do it so that you could have newer ships cost more, for instance maybye a refit galaxy class (venture refit) costs two slots so it has better stats

so you could do it you still have 3 ships come in and by chance you get refit galaxy, but you loose 4 warp in slots 2+1+1=4

or you could do it so that the total has to be 3 so youd get a refit galaxy and a ambasador

you could also put in miranda mk2s, or maybye you get a phalanx which would be 3 warp ins, i think it could be a very cool system

maybye either in normal warp in, or a different warp in, you could get repair ships or contruction, or maybye support ships, like a nebula with different pods for different purposes, or a science ship like a nova which is like a normal support, or a hosspital ship, which repairs ships around them in a certain radius, and maybye as an experimental you could get a section 31 ship, or the pegasus with a phase cloak or such, maybe you could even have a special warp in which could give you a random upgrade, like  the increased sensor range, or maybye it gives you the acs torpedo without research, stuff like that

i think warp in could be a very cool system

Khmmm maybe a cube equipped with ablative armor and in federation colours? Seriously, for such an early ship, is the descent not strong enough?
Though I agree that more ships should be added to warp-in for more variety (and I think I heared somewhere, some time ago that they will be), but I think there are other more important issues that take priority than just adding some more flavour for the feds.

BTW: Welcome back

You're right it is a cool system and I'm never really opposed to having more Warpin options.  There have been lots of topics about having older vessels like the Constitution Refit or the Constellation and the Devs aren't into that.  The "oldest" vessel they seem to allow is the Excelsior because it was the newest of the TOS era vessels and many were built.  The Miranda has been pushed for but has been shot down.

I suggested a few more vessels that could come from an experimental Warp-in and Optec seemed to be open to them.  Maybe we'll see what comes out in the next "content" patch :).

Ninja'ed by Baron :D - I agree that the Descent should really be the most powerful Warp-in as it is better suited for being balanced early game.  Relying mostly on torpedoes means that it will do roughly only 60% damage to small vessels.
