Federation Mining?

So we all have seen the lovely slideshow on the front page of fleetops, especially the lovely galaxy with saucer seperation!!!!!!! However what I think is more interesting then the saucer seperation (yes is really did just say that) is this image.




Now the title of this image says mining, so from that I think we can conclude that this the new federation mining, or a form of federation mining. What im wondering is what do you think it is? Clearly in the picture we can see two small craft, but what are they? Shuttles? Worker bees? The large structure seems to be a yard of some sort, and we don't see a moon in the background, so from that I think we can assume that the system of mining vessels is still implemented. Although there is the possibility the the small shuttle craft ferry the raw ore to this facility for processing. All in all I like the look of it and it will be exciting to see how it is implemented, which makes me wonder what will happen to mining for other races. What do you guys think?

I believe that's the Klingon Supply Dock currently in the game with a K'tinga docked at it.

Oh my gosh... I feel brilliant now... The whiteness of the station just spoke fed to me, and I assumed, and the shuttles looked very fedy. I didn't even see the ktinga in the background, I thought it was just dark because of the lighting, and it didn't look that green..... I thought the ktinga was part of the station and formed the "roof" of it

I feel so smart....

Well just imagine if that was the fed mining dock! It'd look kinda cool

No, it would not look bad at all. I did not see the Topmey until it was mentioned. It blends right in.

also it took me a very long time to see the ktinga.. i saw the head but couldn't see the body very clearly. hahahaha. would be a cool new look for the klingon station to freshen up textues.

Hello. I've been watching this mod for some time (I don't owe armada II, so I haven't been able to play)

In watching the replays, I've often wondered how it would work to have starbases receive raw materials, and smaller but armed stations scattered father out. Mining ships would have to travel some distance to unload, and military craft could be used to escort them.

I believe that this was already discussed at one point but don't quote me, and if i do remember correctly most people don't see the point of allowing freighters to unload at the starbase. Everyone was saying that if it would ever come to a point were you would have to use your starbase for that it would be game over. But what i didn't think about till just now is if you used a starbase instead of a mining station but you mine as well build turrets and a regular mining complex then.

The overall consensus was that it doesn't pay even though i think it would be cool. and another option if you wanted it.
