Dominion shield recharge

I had a fleet of 30 mixed tech rommie T-15's eating a federation base, and the shields would go up some on a kill.  I thought I was imagining it, but then I went and ate some klingons, and noticed for sure

What's up with the Dominion vessels gaining shield energy on kills? Is this normal? I noticed that when my T-15 with ~5% shields got the final shot on a Klink starbase, it went back to 100% shields very rapidly.

Am I drinking too much at the conn again?

i think it was just your t-15 having better regen than starbase attacking it... or you could have build those science ships that helps regen shields or.. you jsut finished upgrading shield upgrade from the upgrade station..
I just tried and the t-15 didn't recharge 5% of shields or close to that :/
they did recharge like 1% when not getting attacked per 2 seconds

The shields went up on rank up? maybe the def was increased so shield points increase maybe this is why you saw the shields go up a little.

rankups and shield upgrade research shouldnt regen shields.

if your shields were low when the shield upgrade kicked in, they should have actually been at a lower percentage after the upgrade kicked in.

with a rankup its possible there was a bug that put in a shiny new ship instead of preserving the damage applied to the pre rankup ship.

either way this is an interesting thing.

rommie tech would have high regen rate as rommies are good at system value.

No not gain more shield points but on rank up the def goes up and the shield max points increases.

For example.

t-15 has 200 shield hit points,  but is being fired on so the shields are at 175.

The t-15 ranks up and the shield hit points increase to 220 so goes from 175 to 195 and makes it look as if you just gained shields when in fact the max was just increased, i dont know im just guessing btw iv never noticed anything like this before.

im not sure how rankups work, but it can either be:

1) when ranking the percentage is preserved, so the rankup wouldnt make the shield status look any different. before you had say 75% shields, you would still have 75% shields after rankup, just this is more hitpoints. the shield bar and % value wouldnt change at all. the in game gui only displays percentage, not the shield hitpoints.

or

2) the raw number of shield hitpoints remaining is preserved, so the shield percentage would actually drop when ranking up, as it does when a shield upgrade finishes.

EDIT: dom says it's number 1, so the bar shouldn't change.

shield percentage should never increase without a bug. unless rankups work in a really weird way.

It's the ratio that's kept, not the raw number of hitpoints :)

I've only saw this during one battle. The T-15's were attacking, and most had rank. Several ships recharged, but almost like the old generix refit came in and shield beamed me back to full health. It filled back up very rapidly to 100% like it was on a station getting repairs. Several recharged at various times, but only this one to full health. The one that went from 5% to 100% shields was one of my rank 6 ships ( commodore rank?)

I think it is impossible to heal shields that fast at that system value ( high as it may be ) because it was a much faster recharge rate than even the C-11 at rank 5 or 6

Ive never saw it happen to a rank 1, or a single silver bar rank.

The mixed-tech Dominion-Romulan fleet has access to C-11 Shield Recharging capabilities as well :)

I saw that ship. I thought it was pretty cool, but not good for late game against 2 brutal AI. I really considered building a couple, but they are pretty fragile and require a bit of micro to keep alive. Im pretty much large yard only at that point, except my fast attack destroyer squads.

Maybe Ill go try that rommie C-11 out...

You know, I had a rommie hard AI ally to keep those damn feds off my butt for a while. Maybe they had a singularity implosion out there that I missed. there were literally hundreds of vessels on screen. My graphics card was running out of texture memory. I never thought of that until now. It recharges ally shields too, right?
