Does Graviton Torpedos rly work ? [game meachanic]

Thats my question. In my last games i did not recognize that the Borg Torpedos work special like the tooltip suggest: "Borg units with multiple Torpedo Modules deal a certain percentage of theirdamage as direct, unavoidable hull damage".

What does it mean exactly and is it really implemented in the game or are the borg torpedos just normal torpedos ?

Yup, it is implemented - Borg torpedoes from multiple Torpedo Modules have a percent chance to deal damage directly to the enemy's hull with each shot.

EDIT: appears to be broken

So they bypass shields and deal direct Hull damage ? Or they just deal more damage to subsystems then normal torpedos ?

Pass through the shields. The actual extra weapon files that have the 'thu-shield' code seem to have damage set to 0, so I'm not sure how they do anything though.

ive never noticed a graviton torp pass through (or do damage through) the shields, ever.

i just tried it again. every single time the hull takes absolutely no damage before shields are down.

i thought i was just missing something.

Ok now we get to the point. Thats exactly what happend to me too. So i was not sure if its only me who don´t understand this weapon. Is this intended and only the tooltip is wrong or is this a small bug which will get fixed the next patch ?

If it's a problem, it'll probably be fixed. The damage being set to 0 is probably not what it should be...

I doubt the 'invisible torpedo' will be changed though, since it's meant to be the default one that passes through rather than a second one being added to do that (I assume).

I've had the same results with Graviton Torpedoes not dealing direct hull damage.  I assume that it's a bug with the ODFs and not the tooltips.

I have noticed this to be around for at least 4-5 patches. Maybe for the last few months. It has even been addressed before on the forums.

The problem has occurred on several occasions throughout 3.0's lifetime, so it is not unlikely that there are several threads on this issue still on the forums :) .
