Buggy Borg

Hi all hi have two questions:

1. The holding beam. Does it anything other then holding a ship for a few seconds? Shouldnt it assimilate the crew or something?

2. The Borg abilitzy to beam drones through enemy shield does not work right? I cant use it on any ship...

1. It does.

2. It works only if the target ship doesn't have the complete crew.

juts played a round with the borg.

Holding beam just hold

But you are right with beaming drones through the shields doesnt work.
If you activate it and move over a ship the mouse button switch to the error symbol.
it just works if you are already using assimilation beam.

The Holding beam transports borgdrones into the enemy ship, so the number of drones on the assimilating ship decreases and the crew of the enemy ship too. In my opinion the holding-beam transfers not enough drones per second, so you are unable to assimilate a ship effective (combining it with assimilators with autoassimilator decreases the crew too and additionally beaming and boarding are the way it is possible). The disadvantage of assimilated ships is, that you will loose them easyly and so I think its more effective to spend the ressources for weapons instead of assimilation-modules.

The only effective assimilationpossebility are the matrices (assimilation matrix, transmission matrix etc.), because their holding-beam doesn't need special energy and with more than one of these buildings (e.g. assimilation and transmission) you are able to decrease the assimilation time (it lasts a long time too, but they can't flee  .
