I know this must sound costly, but in the long run it works very well. When the game starts, build two Mining Stations, and place 4 extra at Dilithium and 3 extra at Tritanium. The reason that your line gets backed up with only 1 mining station per 2 moons is simple: if more than one miner is mining at the same time at different moons, and they both go to the same Mining Station, the instead of 0 backup, there will be 1 backup, and so on and so forth. If an enemy only builds 1 Mining Station for his/her ships, and you build two, the winner is obvious, if of course you go to more than one moonset: you! You'll have a huge amount of resources at you fingerips, ready to be turned into something shiny and either cheap or expensive at will.
