I think if Starfleet were ever concerned about the physical strength of their hulls, then they probably would mount nacelles on thin spindly twigs etc. :)

it's a nice design. Something a bit different from the norm!

I stand by my statement :D.

Since then my ambition has grown and in my mind that ship is now large enough to house a small moon inside that dome, terraformed for my lovely holiday makers, with an interior climate as flexible as Risa's weather control network. Also the huge deflector dish looking thing isn't a deflector dish at all: It is a 'moon launcher'. When push comes to shove, if I ever get in a pickle with said ship, I simply press the big red button on the captains chair and BAM... it launches an entire moon at the enemy at umm, warp speed.

I'd be a bit buggered if it misses of course :ermm:. Oh I'd also need to evacuate all those little holiday makers I guess!

Don't like it at all I would never use it even if it was as cheap as a scout and had the stats of a Decent.

Totally agree with that  :ermm:

I think the design of the Windrunner has a refreshing feel to it. Would make an interesting mixed-tech-design for feds and Iconians when they join the game  B)

Or let it be a map object... Some abandoned experiment with a phase-cloak, an asteroid and a romulan warbird somewhere.

I love it.  It makes no sense, but visually it's amazing.  I'm alway surprised by how many tiny variations you can make on the basic Federation design to get new ships.

Dunno what role it should have though.

Terran ship from an alternate Empire that vanished in a fashion like the old Defiant did? One empire got screwed by Kirk, doesn't mean all their counterparts did.

In size it looks suited for a medium-sized destroyer/light cruiser. Somewhere between Intrepid and Excelsior-1 may be.

More like the Miranda actually.

The windrunner class is a Miranda sized vessel from the 27th century. It features Avanced Quantum torpedos and Chronoton torpedoes.
