Weapon Selection

My bro asked me, and I knew it was not in the game engine. But basically I was wondering if it could be possible to individually control weapons (aka... fire torpedoes at target A, fire phasers at target C, change torpedoes to target B ). To me this could really improve the depth of the RTS in the game. And add a more canon feel.

I was hoping more along the lines of it being plausible for standard weapons.

personally i dont know how else you would do if but to make each one a special weapon. I dont really think is a realistic option using A2  or any other game engine for that matter. The only games that offer that kind of control are simulators like bridge commander.

It's doable, kinda.

1- Remove all of the random non-trek special weapons, IE: the Defiants magic missle of weapon disabling, or at least remove them from ships that you plan to do this with, as they would cause issues for this method

2- Have torpedos use special energy

3- Fly the ship arround, and use the keypad to toggle alert status and special weapon autonomy status. Go to red alert or max special weapon autonomy to fire, then disable it to recharge.
