Hey guys,
Just a little idea I came up with, which I believe would go down well.
For any of you that played Star Trek Legacy, you will know that it's multiplayer had a rather rudimentary wave game.
For those of you who don't know what a wave game is, it is basically a defence game, where you have to defend against incresing numbers of enemies and obsticals in order to advance your skill. To successfully 'stay in' a wave game, the player must either survive or make sure 'something' survives.
How would this work in Fleet Ops?
Ok, you enter instant action and at the top, either Death Match (Current game variant of FO) or Wave (Better name will eventually be chosen) can be selected.
The player is then given the option to select which Race they wish to be and can potentially select a maximum of one more races to be on there side (AI however may limit the strategy of the Race).
Versus Race Option:
Allows the player to select the race they wish to defend against.
NPC's On/Off:
Allows less dominant Races/Groups (E.g Maquis, Tholians, Cardassians) to enter the game at any point and commence raids against the player, joint with the versus Race.
Setting:
A number of potential places could be used as defensive battlegrounds, for example, Earth and Starfleet command, keep starfleet command intact for as long as possible, likewise the same with the Bajoran system and Deep Space Nine. Or if you choose to play as another species for example, the Dominion, you must defend Cardassia by keeping shield generators intact, stopping potential Alliance invaders taking the planet.
Obviously the more people that contribute to these ideas the better, but I love wave games and would really like to see this implemented one day. Add me on msn (tom530@sky.com) if you want to talk directly
Have a good day guys,
Tom

Would be awesome. Maybe the Devs could modify the existing defend the planet gametypes to accomodate. Although I have a feeling borg would have an advantage in that. (Turrets that can't miss)

I remember pissing away hours at a time playing the wave game in star trek encounters on ps2....except it was too easy unless u screwed up....I would just go in circles for hours with the defiant firing away....that was a cool arcade style game if u ask me....Im not sure though if a wave type of mode would fit FO...as u completed waves they get more dificult IE: more enemy ships. So after a bit you would just be getting mega spammed by cubes or other races big ships which would be kinda hard to have fun with if u ask me....hmmmm....but then again it could be based upon waves of scenarios instead....first defend against a romulan inteligence gathering force....then klingon raids....maquis harrasment opperations...breen privateers....dominion assaults.....borg incursions.....etc....

Yeah absolutely true, which is why i think we shoudl do what Halo 3 ODST has in it's wave game mode, completely randomise enemies, so you could be against two cubes for one round and against a detector the next, alllowing vital rebuilding time.
