Just a little idea running through my head.
have warpins drop to impulse at the edge of the map, rather than where they are ordered to go.
ships cant be sent to warp between locations on the map cos they are too close, and impulse is fast enough. or because warp in a2 was pants, or whatever reason you like.
so why can warpins fly at warp to get to where they are going (i know this can be answered easily, im just doing some theatre
)?
of course this would vastly affect warpins, slow warpins would take some time to get to their location. but also they would lose a lot of power as offensive tools. just a general idea to weaken warpins and make players think about tactics when using them.

At the edge of the map would be a pain on bigger maps.
How about adding gravity wells back in and dropping out when reaching one of those (maybe resuming after leaving, maybe not)? Or slowing down when coming across something like an asteroid belt, in order to go around and then staying at Impulse.
That way, they might arrive at Warp, or might arrive at Impulse. Depending on what they pass on the way.

This is one of those ideas I see a lot of Fed players crying about.
Really and truly, Warp ins are already extremely powerful a small nerf like this is kinda cool if you ask me, also more realistic in terms of how FO is set up.
