Another idea to help people fend off against warp ins:

What if the location of the warp in is marked, similar to the Hyperspace Artillery's countdown?  Maybe something in red that says "Ships inbound" or something similar.  Knowing where a warp in is headed before the ships get there (or even that a warp in is coming) would go a long way towards coordinating to fight it off, and would be a pretty nice feature, I think.  It would give players about 10 extra seconds to react, and tip them off to where ships are headed so they can respond accordingly. ^-^

I love it! Perhaps something like "warp signatures detected"

Sounds good. Scupper some flank attacks or add to the tension?

:D

It certainly makes sense that other races would have long range sensors that would be able to detect them.  I was also thinking the Moqbara station could get something that alerts players to its use.  Basically, any of the "Super Weapon" abilities having an alarm system would be cool.

Good idead! I like it!

I'm wondering what the warning for the Borg Cube might be... "You're screwed!"  :whistling:

i like this idea. warpin is a distress call, so the enemy could intercept the distress call too. as well as detect incoming warp sigs.

for moqbara dont the ships all glow red when moqbara turns on? or is that just for the user/allies

I actually suggested this idea already, but that was in a post on a thread that wasn't made specifically for the idea (I think it was a thread about warpins in general, but I will have to search the forums to be sure where it is.) You guys really need to pay more attention  Still nice that my/Mal's idea is being noticed.

EDIT:Found my original post with the idea (it's in the second paragraph.)
Nebula_Class_Ftw wrote:In Fed on Fed play, whoever gets SFC first has a huge advantage. I know because I often build it half a minute too late  :sweatdrop:. Also I've noticed I can often forget about chassis level 2 since my warp in gives me the number of ships larger than Excel IIs and Intrepids I need (Akiras are nice, but Excel IIs finish off bases better, and hav never miss torp ability .) Right now Feds are extremely reliant on SFC and it can give them a rather unfair advantage. Even one Steamrunner in your base mining can be a huge problem if you didn't pre-turret the base moon pair.

I think there should be a countdown after getting SFC before you can use it, like 40 seconds or something. Maybe also give you an alert that unidentified Federation ships are approaching at high warp whenever an enemy uses warp-ins. Maybe even state the location where they will arrive just after the alert.

They already have it.

'We are the Borg.  Lower your shields and prepare to be assimilated.'

"resistance is futile"

"your biological and technological something will be added to the collective"

it has all the standard borg cube talks from both armada 1 and 2 during cinema view (and from tv/movies)

also i think warpin should have the purple circle on minimap as well as on the main map showing where warpin is going (like when phoenix temperal subspace thingy was used or transwarp was used or temperal distortion was used, or the subspace wave, and i think i'm forgetting a few more super special...)

It would be cool if it actually sounded like a distress call. Mayday Mayday requesting immediate assistance.

I've recently thought it would be cool if the fed player who triggered the warp in heard majel Barretts voice as the computer say "sending emergency transmission" but alas it'd be hard to find such an audio clip...
