My last topic got some not so supportive feed back.

This topic because the other topic is know bean off tracked and I have a new refined idea that may be for to peoples liking.

This idea is that there be a new wrap in option that dose not use credits that warps in older decommissioned ships. This option would take longer request ships because for 2 resins 1. because they need to be recommissioned and re-crowed 2. because I don't wont the player to just ask for a huge fleet. Theses ships would be weaker and would have weaker special weapons.

Ships in this one could be used obesely no cost exempt to be repaired after a battle.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT TRAINS WARP OR ANY tHING EALS BUT HOW TO MAKE THE OLDER SHIPS FIT IN FO. Thanks

Hmm...that's an interesting idea. Personally, I think it'd be a little hard to use well. I like how you said that they would take longer to warp in, for the obvious reasons. The problem that I see is that if they're weaker, and they take longer to warp in, what's the use for them? I mean, other than the obvious delight in seeing TMP/early TNG era ships (If those are the ones you're talking about). I'd like to be able to look further into this, though I do enjoy the Federation where they are atm.

The resin is because you can in a battle you wont every thing you can get.
maybe we will need a second why to call them maybe using star bases energy instead of the warp in base.

Good point.

Or maybe when you run out of credits.

Having to recommission & recrew old ships makes no sense to me. Why would Starfleet recommission old ships? What would make more sense is that Starfleet still has old ships in service, on minor missions (sensor sweeps or something). So your option to warp in old ships could very well be a distress call, to which they respond.

Of course since this is a response to a distress call the ships will leave after a while and continue with their mission. Preferably they'd leave if they are no longer needed (no enemies in a certain range), but I suppose a fixed amount of time is more practical (sort of like the gemini weapon in stock Armada).
If you do that it would also make sense that they cost nothing but the energy to make the distress call.

Now, to make them a little useful, since they are weaker, you could either send in 2 or 3 of them arriving at different intervals, all responding to your distress call. Or you can mount them with a one shot one kill kind of special weapon, which they can use only once. (Or both, balancing issues permitting)

It would be nice to make a distress call and have a Constitution class show up, followed 5 seconds later by a Miranda.

Yeah, just not a Constitution, I don't think you can find them anywhere but a museum.

No, the Oberth is still in commission, even though the Nova replaced it.

Most Oberth Class were civilian owned (with SS instead of USS, like the Construction & mining ships should have). Oberth Class would be good NPC's to trade with or hire.

Agreed 101% The nova could go to the existing option for calling modern ships that are no longer being made Gal, Nova, Stem-runner, and nebula,.

This new ship button could call Excelsior, Mirada, New Orleans, and Yeager Possibly.

Oberth would be a good construction ship or for a new fed avatar your research station sort of...you start with one and have to keep it alive but it's a mobile research station or science lab with an SS name? I think it'd be neat....

There have been many Oberth variations seen in books and tech manuals, with different pods instead of the Oberth's sensor palette, such as a freighter pod, a torpedo launcher, extra nacelle, etc. So it would be feasible to have a construction moduled Oberth. It's what I use on my TMP Fed race.
