Warp?

Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

Would it be possible to, in a later patch or update, have a warp enable disable button in the individual game set up menu (Choosing maps etc.). I have read many threads with complaints about there being no warp and feel that gameplay is just too lengthy without it. It was so easy in Armada 2 to just warp over to the other side of the map instead of going with impulse drived only.

personally its kinda nice without warp, howver if the maps were much bigger, like 10 of the current 8 person maps put together, warp would be cool for that, to warp into the sectors

Yeah... if maps would be 10 times bigger - I doubt the map handling is so advaced, that this would still be playable - Warp would be cool again. If.

Warp was one of the worst features of A2, and Flops was designed to remove as many of these flaws as possible. One of the requirements for playing a strategy game is patience, but none is required if you can simply warp fifty Sovereigns right into your enemy's base. Then it just becomes a numbers game.

Warp will not be in. Having it as a toggle feature would keep everyone happy, though.

Did anyone ever mention that Warp rushes were impractical and hard to pull off? I liked Warp, but always had it turned off for 2-4 player maps. I only used it for the biggest maps.

My enemies were not so rational it seems. They truly went for it, every time. And it's very different when you're at the receiving end! :sweatdrop:

If some people really really want the warp feature, then an on/off switch seems fine, just as long as it's 'off' by default.

If they want Warp rushes, be Federation. Let's see them rush when you have a few Steamrunners spread around the base.

but its hard to get steamrunners, but what i was saying is that you warp in to the sectors, at a random place or somthing, but the point is you have massive maps so that it makes it a awsome game, with many moons, and hiding locations

Warp-rushes when combined with map height was veeeery difficult to counter (especially with static defenses... as they would just destroy all your research and mining before attacking homebase  :crybaby:)

The Steamrunner isn't the only counter; the stock game had gravity well's to prevent warp and Pulse turrets could keep up with warping ships.

Accidently? How on Earth did you do that accidently?
