I haven't watched VOY: Message in a Bottle for quite a while, but the two holograms had no idea what they were doing and the Doctor simply gave a random attack pattern when the computer asked. Perhaps a different attack pattern might use torps?

Maybe, but the Romulans also used it. Still Phaser only, and they'd had time to examine the ship.

Actually if one piece of the promie blows up. The ship should still be able to reintegrate. i will give an example if the saucer blows up the the two star-drives can reintegrate, if the bottom stardrive blows then the saucer and the stardrive would be able to reintegrate. the only thing that even poses a problem is if the center stardrive would blow, then in theroy the stardrive could flip over and reattach to the saucer. the main problem is the the saucer was upside down, however idk how artificial gravity works but i dont think it poses a problem.

I doubt flipping the ship over would work, the bottom and top Stardrive are different. The only incomplete intergrations I can see working are Upper Stardrive/Saucer and Upper Stardrive/Lower Stardrive.

Why not have it work like the galaxy and if one section is blown up you can haul the others in for rebuilding into a complete version?
