What if you had a game options that let you choose to have a fleet of ships that are controlled by the AI or the player be sent in at random or fixed times.
I would like to see a game option that lets you dispatch a fleet of ships of your choosing.
This would be like a unexpected or expected warp in or a chosen rase or random race.
In this options you could choose witch ships/races or sent in including map object (ships).
This would be a option you could select when starting a game.

Story and gameplay-wise, it would be bad, if you could choose your incoming ships, as it is mostly a distress-call- Imagine:
"This is the starbase 147 attacked by dominion forces. I call for support by all vessels that listen to this call!"
Now, an two exselsior and a sensor neb come for your help and you shout back "No, you are lame, I dont want your asses on the frontline. Your bravery to put your lives on the line to help me is shit in my eyes, I want a galaxy, a torp-neb and a nova!"
Imagine, you would be the captain of the excelsior, how would you react? I wpould open fire on the starbase.
You already can call for specific support with the two other slots.
The ability to send back ships you dont want to is similar to the situation above. "Go away senor-neb, I prefer the galaxy!"
Thats not nice. The random factor is a good thing to not make the warp-in pwn everything. It already is very strong.

I would like to see this implemented in an actual distress call, in addition to the request fleet support. Have one ship be designated as the flag ship when you build SFC and the flag ship gets to make a fleet distress call when it is damaged at least half way.(or whatever) Then, a small fleet of AI controlled ships(say 5 ) will warp in and protect the flag ship(10% chance of receiving an AI controlled repair ship). They will warp out 30 seconds after it stops receiving damage from enemy ships. If it is destroyed, the fleet will protect near by ships for the same amount of time. They will leave if the ship is fully repaired.
Ohh, and allies should have the ability to send a distress call, to which the fed player can answer with AI controlled ships that cost the player supply to send. If they survive until they warp back out, they give the supply back. If not, then you don't get any back.
Or, make it player controlled. To answer a distress call, the fleet costs 1 supply every 20 seconds until player chooses to recall them or the ships are destroyed.
It would appear as a ping on the map, a beacon, and the event string "Distress call received!" You would have to go to that spot on the map, click the newly placed distress beacon, and select answer distress call.( the beacon is technically owned by the fed player ) The beacon will only stay there for one minute, and will also disappear when you select answer or ignore. Ping and beacon are visible to all players but is not destroyable.
Not all of this is possible yet(giving friendly players ships via replaceweapon and AI controlled warpin[I already tried with no success

Sorry for the hard to follow post, just throwing ideas out there.

I think what he was saying was more along the lines of a map event where ships warp in after a certain countdown, for instance after a 10 minute countdown a pack of five ai controlled b'rels warp in, or to make things more interesting, some kazon ships warp in and mix things up a bit.
or, in the event these things go to the player, before you start the match in the options you can choose to auto recieve x amount of ships via warp in.
I think the idea is good if I understood it correctly, but I see some problems with choosing exactly what you would get in the event you opted for player controlled. It would suck if you chose to recieve a cube every three minutes...I'd say choose a race you want to warp in, and you have certain chances to recieve anything that race has to offer.

Yep you got it.
It would add more uncertainty to the game making it even more interesting.

I like it, especially the npc part, it would be like creep spawning, fleet ops style.
Imagine you just fought a battle with your opponent, and suddenly a group of kazon ships warp in right on top of you and start smacking your already battered fleet around...it would make things quite interesting.
I think a timer would be needed for warp out too though, otherwise you'd be swimming in those things in an hour.

It would all depend on how you set up the game at the start.
You could set 3 warp ins 10min aport of 5 old style fed ship. or 3 worp ins at randome times after 10 min of 10 dominion bugs.
warp out is interesting I did not think of adding such a thing I like the idea though of having to deal with the flux of ships.

I wouldn't mind a few alien ship appearing at times, though any ships belonging to a playable race shouldn't attack any player of the same races unless they're Klingon.

In the concept I have you could set there allegiances and you can all so choose them to be Derelict warp ins if you wanted to be.

Currently, warpin in npcs is impossible, i've tried and tried to get it to work but the ships always warp out before being transfered to the NP. However it is possible to create an a.i spawning using the fighter carrier weapon, this works by having an invisible 'rescearch' pod on the map armed with a fighter weapon, then in thr replace weapon code of the have the names of the odfs of the ships. When a fighter is born, in the ship odf it is the
AIprocess fighterprocess line or somthing like that, while a standard ship has the
AIprocess shipprocess , or somthing of the like, with the latter, the ships spawned will not fly around the object that created them, rather they wil group up, and when they have enough force they will attack.

Perhaps the devs could shed some light on the subject, I would imagine that they already have something to this effect in the works for the campaign?
