I was thinking about this idea for the borg smaler ships could stop and tranform them selves in to a biger bor ship like seen in enterprise with a earth transport captured by the borg evolves in to a real threat by evolving.
A small ship like a scout step by sep could become a cube and captured ships could become other borg ships.
What do you think?

I love the idea, it would make the Borg seem a little more Borgish but I think this idea has already been shot down by the FO team, I think the reason why was it would be too much micromanagement on one ship that the one ship would either be super powerful or super dead. : ( Good idea though. : )

I don't see how it would be any more micromanaging than constructing ships from individually built collective nodes, then selecting every single module that goes into them. It might get confusing if there are three or four different steps going from one ship to another, but if it's directly from a small unit to any larger unit, with the small unit (possibly captured ship) basically replacing the collective node, then it's just as much micromanaging as there is now, if not less, because of the possibility that you could select fleets of basic ships and make larger units from them all at once.

Ok, think of you having a ship that you can either assimilate an equal or smaller ship to make your ship more powerful, than again and again and again, its like trying to use a cube to assimilate a sabre but the only difference is that you are trying to originally assimilate the sabre with your ship that is about the size of a sabre and if you fail you lose your ship....if you win you can become more powerful and once you hit into cube after you assimilate 50+ vessels you will be able to assimilate anyone because simply put if you were able to assimilate a sabre if you were that small you would be able to assimilate anything super fast and super easy since your a cube...so if you lose, it would be early on; but you will have an "I Win" button late game. It isn't the micromanaging which is the real problem its the game play that will have some issues. I would love it if they could implement it but doubtful since that will complicate the game too much for the Borg. : (

What if you make the holding beam start sucking hull off of the target and when it runs out the vessel is destroyed and say 5 percent of each value of the target ship is used to boost the assimilating ships strength? it would mean you need holding beams for all vessels but it means that you have more incentive to assimilate and protect your vessels over just doing suicide wrecking runs.

That sounds like a good idea, would be cool if Borg vessels can have that ability for the holding beam rather than now, since crew is on the way side. Great idea : )

How about an expansion of cutting beam, say if a cube attacks an unsupported (single) small to medium sized ship, it "cuts" it, until it gets destroyed?

If you did it like in Enterprise, it would work like this...
Capture a Sabre - Borg it's engines (goes faster now). Borg it's Weapons (Replace phasers with Borg beams, replace torpedoes with Borg torps). Borg it's shields (increase shield strength). Borg it's hull (repairs damage faster)
They weren't turning it into a Probe or Scout Cube. They were upgrading it to eventually be able to get it into range to transmit to the collective. Carving up the other ship was for raw materials (likely to build a transwarp coil with).

That was my idea; i just pre-translated it into how it might work in the game (the ship gets carved up into raw materials for the improvement of the vessel).
