I think it's time to revive something that I don't think was answered but is probably pretty important to gameplay, tractor beams for every ship. This is straight forward, tractor beams for every ship: reasons

You can pull derelict or damaged ships without propulsion out of dangers way. No reason to leave a ship behind if it's still crewed, and I hate to do so.

To make it realistic you can make small ships(Ex Saber) pulling large ships(Ex Sovern) make the small ship pulling go real slow. The opposite if the ship is large pulling a small, it would go almost normal speed. Thats for gameplay because I know theres nothing stopping the saber from going full speed while pulling a sovern, except space dust and bits of gravity.

Thats it, please don't stray from the basic tractor beam on every ship.

sawnds like a good idea. i dont know about the space dust and gravity. thay dont seem to play a mager role in star trek on tv unless thay are rite next to a hug spashal body like a planet.

and i dont think mass will play to much of a role when it comes to tracter beems. i have seen the ncc 1701-d pull astrodes that wher like 50x its size. what duss not cawt for to much in space.

i never use the tractor beam option in teh game, but hey if people use it, i guess it should be in teh mod. it doesn't do any harm or unbalance the game

Yeah thats what I ment ewm...thats why I said a saber wouldn't have any real problem doing it physically. Still for gameplay purposes, I think it would be slower for smaller to pull bigger.

I really hate it when I have a warbird that was hit by one of those Soveriegn special weapons and had it engines disabled and I just have to leave it there...

Exactly.

Is there some kind of game limitation to having tractors on every ship? Because if there isn't then by all means every ship should have one. As you said Praetor they don't offer any tactical advantage to one race over another. Definitely an idea whose time has come.

Well see this was asked before, but for some reason it wasen't implemented, I was trying to find the old topic but to no avail. Wanted to see if time had an impact on how people thought then and now but I don't even know why optec didn't put it in.

I think thats a good idea and would bring realism to the game. Weird that the Activision developers made Starfleet ships with deflectors and all but it never occured to them to make use of them. :P

Seems an OK idea, well its nice to sometimes be able to retreat your damaged ships from a battlefield :)

That's a very good point, Black Baron. I would have to agree with you. Anything to make FO achieve its intended goal of being the factual A2 is good for me and I'm sure it's good for us all. Success to the FO team for their hard work and dedication. I believe in them, and I'm sure they'll consider this one thing as well as others for all our entertainment.

Tractor beam is great, but I would like to see one put to tactical use like with Worf plus the Vorcha and Defiant but have it require like serious skill (like the Proposed Hero Ships or something else) where you could grab moving ships

No no no, my idea is just a standard tractor beam, seeing as how you could rape someone by tractoring their ships into your fleet.

Yeah, uh, why'd you say that?
