Tier 3 = Dreadnought = Cube/Tavara.
Balance won't change the fact of each race having a third tier will make it like stock A2 where all races have all the same types of ship.

we actually dont consider Fleet Operations having tiers. Compare the Federation and the Dominion for example. While both have two yards to produce vessels, the requirements of vessels are very different. A Jem'Hadar Battleship only requires its respective prototype, while the Sovereign requires basically the complete Federation techtree to be produced, so you cant realy compare those vessels.
Our goal is to make every race different while getting as close as possible to their image pictured in the shows. We already have quite large differences in race outlines for a RTS game, and the upcoming larger race redos will greatly improve that.
At the end of the day, I don't think better ships are required. They might even destroy some of the races characters. The Federation for example is known to have mixed fleets, so it should be emphasized, that a Federation player builds everything, from Saber to Sovereign, while the Romulans for example are very specialized. Too many units might destroy those race-characters. The race redos will introduce a number of new vessels for each race, but as far as i can tell at the moment, we will not introduce a new "level" of vessels. The Fleet Operations destroyer isn't that far away from a battleship either way.

Fully agree! (EDIT: This was meant as a reply to tyler)
But why is this tier 3? For me, there are (for most races) 3 standard tiers:
The first level is for me those ships which can be built with just 1 science centre (mostly there are 2 options, which science centre to build first).
Second tier are for me those ships, which are only available after commonly 10-15 mins or so, when mid game stars.
Third tier i call all big ships from the final yards.
I'm curious about your intentions to count it differently?

I don't think anyone misunderstood.

Optec gave a more thorough reply, but he stated essentially what we said. He has the benefit of being a developer and can say what FleetOps "SHOULD" be

Tier 3 Ships that eat Tier 1 and take multiple Tier 2 ships to kill = Dreadnoughts.
Tier 1 = Destroyers / Cruisers
Tier 2 = Cruisers / Battleships
Tier 3 = Battleships / Dreadnoughts
It made perfect sense to me, I just don't want more ships that are more powerful than battleships, which IS what you suggested
