I was playing last night and sent in 2 fleets to take out mining instillation. my intention was to have one fleet shoot at my targets while the other shot at ships at random. as i went in i was attacked by a fleet of ships. i set fleet 1 to hit the turrets in the aria while i expected fleet 2 to hit the defending fleet. they shot at the mining ships. i told them to attack the ships that were shooting at them and they blew up one, then moved back to eh mining ships, with the movement delay and my slow micro management my attack was more then horrible.
My question is, is there a way to make it so the ships target the attacking ships and not the mining ones?

im in with that one..
That often happens with me at a game.
When i play i thought i was going bezerk and sometimes on a crucial moment ,and there went my triumpf....
And cropped up with a devestating deveat!!!
But now im shure that there is nothing wrong with my eyes!

Here's my support, folks!
I often wondered at what my fleet was shooting and WHY. Most of the time my ships got frakked because they decided again and again to better shoot at those targets not attacking them while they were torn apart by the real nasty things. No matter if I told them to actually defend themselves.
Please do something if there's something that can be done about it!

I don't know.
For my taste, taking out an enemies base is to easy in the current version. Even with the current targeting order. And from the point of defending, I'm more than glad that attackers ignore the defencive fleet and head strait for the sensor arrays and mining ships, so shootouting the attackers is a lot easier.
On the other hand, if the defence system will be enhanced in the next version, I will of course support this idea

I agree with Majed at the moment. I think the game should reward microing in this extent so that fleets don't simply become used with the "produce, set waypoint, expect victory" ideology. Right now it appears that those who watch their fleets and choose targets (albeit constantly) are rewarded. I could be wrong though so...

my question would be are you playing AIs? or people? AIs are easy to beat, but a good player is harder.

For my part, I'm playing AI's. Usually 4 and more combined Hard Dominions on large, open maps.
I can imagine that a good player is much harder to beat than the AI. The "only" difficulty I'm expiriencing when playing again the hard AI's is the huge number of enemy ships, and there will be ships everywhere on the map. As soon as I decide to attack one of these bases, there will be like hundrets of bugs swarming the area, gangbanging my ships. But the point is, even if there are lots of enemies defending the base, the vital buildings will be destroit to fast. Turrets and the perimeters usually are the last targets I 'm ordering to destroy, as there firepower is to weak.
Same vice versa, as a defender: It is easier to defend with the current system, but no guarantie for survival.
Well, for online gaming against good players, I can't actually speak. But I believe that starbases and shipyards can be destroit as easy as in Instant Action. But I'm happy to learn more about it

They're supposed to be going off a small ODF factor about the importance of the ship, but the mining ships are supposed to be pretty low on that list.
