Talon - Harrassment Refit

I was unable to sleep, and that spawned an idea.  The Harrassment Refit of the Talon-class scoutship.

The refit provides -1 offense, +5 defense, +5 system.  Supreme Cloak becomes Supreme Aldovh Cloak.

That's right, it can shoot completely ineffectually, and extremely difficult to detect...while cloaked.

The normal cost to cloak, no special drain.  The ship can't actually hurt anything, even a C-11 (at least that's my idea).  All it does is shoot.

Why is this worth doing?  Because you get a few of them flittering around popping off shots at enemy ships and stations over and over and they will be flooded with 'combat engaged' messages and pings on the minimap.  This will provide a layer of misdirection to allow you a little more time to launch your real attack.

Or just keep them so paranoid that you're allowed to build that giant D'deridex fleet.

lawl, everyone would realise straight away that you are using the weak refit and wont care lol. i find this interesting, but i dont think it will be good.

I like this idea, it'll likely piss some people off. Plus, you can punish spammers by spamming them the text and speech.

They'll hear the message, sure, but they won't see anything on the minimap and since the only things currently that fire while cloaked are Rom turrets (no threat and opponent knows that they wouldn't be able to move) and K'Vorts (which do pitiful damage per torpedo, I often see one of my ships suddenly lost a third of its health, then I engage a fleet of K'Vorts and the damage doesn't do anything since I still have shields up, so also not a threat.)
I think in order to be effective the ship would have to be able to hurt things, enuff for five or six of the things to take on miners and win. Maybe instead of -1 to offense it could get +7 while losing a lot of its sensor range (to prevent being a superscout.)

EDIT:And also I don't like the +5 system (that would be the system value of an Intrepid  :blink:), make it +2 or so.

Sure that is a fun idea, I like it, even if its kind of stupid.

What about a less fun, but identically functioning idea ... a possible future minelayer-refit of any romulan vessel could place a cloaked distraction buoy, which emits weapin fire messages and a point on the minimap.

I do believe there's a little 'beacon' that shows up on the minimap where combat is occuring.

And Veteran Rheinn shoot while cloaked too.  In fact, they have the Aldovh cloak.

and you do not want to face 5 veteran torpedo/beam refit rhiens without cloak detect  :D

hey if your enemy is clever enough to get 5 veteran rhienns then they deserve to use aldovh cloak and slaughter all everything in your base. its almost as good as tavara for harassing.
