Tachyon Detection Grid
Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

Ok it was mentioned in another thread about the tachion detection grid, so how about changing it so the scouts cant just run around an see cloaked ships u need a few scouts an they would link up somehow and start sweeping an area. while they where linked up they would be able to spot cloaked ships. this idea is almost lumpybobs idea but he said weapon, so just thought id mention that he gave me the idea so he doesnt get angry

hum...i like the idea. but i think that it should also be so that ships dont ahve to move, so that you could have a grid in your base you know? any way they didnt move in that epesode i dont think...hum.....

I always liked the SFC3 approach to anti-cloak systems.
Translated into AII it would be a special weapon that fired one "impulse" of cloak detection to make cloaked ships visible for a short period of time.
Maybe (dunno if this works) slap a toggleweapon class onto tachyon grid and make it use special energy (so that it could be held online for only a few seconds and could be 'fired' again 20+ seconds later).

i like the idea, or maybe sopmthing like a furturist sonar which pinpointed them as they moved, but in pulses of every 5 seconds or so and they have very limited range?

well it still sawnds like enterprise-a teck. i think its good naw i think.
enterprise-a teck was basted of to days Rater. and thay whood have some thing much more avased by than. and faster than rater

i know, but it just f***s up the point of having a cloack if you can see it easy, i think it should be an avtra or somthing.

incorrect my friend,
the USS Enterprise D (NCC 1701-D) used this technique with a small task force to capture a cloaked ship
the USS Enterprise (NCC 1701) used "sonar" to try and track down a cloaked romulan warbird (wich didn't work)
perhaps it is possible to make a sensor array send out a pulse to another sensor array so it detects cloaked vessels for a short period of time,
perhaps modify bouy's launched by that fed vessel and modify it to detect cloaked ships

or you could have a grid like you have to build four or somthing and then send sensor probes t each other to pick up the clocka? ie you have four sensors sensor a sends a probe to bc&d and the information picked up is shwon on them sensors?

just make a small sensor array or midas array that can detect cloac at a fixed direction or make an ability to send a pulse that shows cloaked ships for a small time while the recharge rate of the pulse is long.

yeah opr maybe just a thin net type thing when they go throw it it shows them up and as soon as the go past it they go again or somthing?

It seems like we've ended up back at letting sensor satellites detect cloak, and letting large structures sweep space infrequently. Isn't that how it already works?
And Romulans are the masters of the cloak, so why can't they fit a cloak detector into refitted scout ships? Makes sense to me.

I agree that the cloak in the past two star trek armada's has been made a bit to easy to find mix one scout ship and a science station and wa la the romulans no longer have any sort of atvantage, but in the spirit of gaming cloak shouldn't be impossible to find; However if a ship can't fire while clocked it can only serve as a spy of sorts, something the romulans are notorious for doing, I say leave cloack completly un detecatable, but a cloaked ship is left defenceless, no firing while cloaked nothing, use cloak to set up ambushes and traps that sort of thing
