Hey,
Quick question why have the superweapons been removed? I always quite liked them as a last reserve incase the enemy got a bit too big for there boots.
So this means where's the Borg Transwarp gate, and the Klingon Jack'eng? (i believe thats the correct spelling...)

2 possibilities:
1. People didn't like them and made up phoney 'unbalanced' excuses.
2. They didn't fit with the FO theme.

Actually, it was a bit of both 1 and 2.
See, the Jach'Eng class as well as the Romulan Pheonix both posed as a major imbalace because of the "Blow every dang thing up" theme painted right on them. Plus with the Pheonix cloaking device in place basically it made things worse because you could have a 100 of them waiting to blow up. And when you get tired of out building your enemies you just decloak and then boom!
The Jach'Eng was also a prob because people were sending litteral fleets of them and firing them at once making instant win.

Pretty much exactly what Gamer said: they promote a game design that is weak on strategy and micromanagement.
Plus, we have "super weapons" right now - they just aren't universally the same across the board and require some nice strategy to be used properly (Ion Storm, Hyperspace Artillery...).

A lot more of 2, they were very fragile, costly, time/resource consuming to build and single use only (for the ship). More balanced than most stock stuff... which isn't treally saying much...
Mostly, they didn't fit with the 'fleet' part of Fleet Ops.

the only thing I miss is transwarp gates. I think they would have been ok if you coulden't open them within a certan range of enemy stations. that is what realy made it a super weapon, sending a fleet of cubes to the center of the enemy! but it was nice because you could set a direct route between your base and your allie for suport.

I don't miss super-weapons, but I miss wave-like aoes like the cardassian one that knocked out engines and the jacheng, but if it did alot less damage it might bring in some more tactics into FO.
EDIT: I guess the idea is directional AOEs

Thats actually a pretty awesome idea. Mixed tech transwarp gates allowing for travel between ally bases would be epic. But I guess thats not really a weapon...

Superweapon... Superstation... same thing, just one's on a ship and one's on a Station.
Wasn't the lack of a Transwarp station explained with the fact that they are built in the Delta Quadrent, while FO is in the Alpha/Beta Quadrent?

makes sense that they would be present in the Delta Quadrant but unless there is some property that differentiates space in the Delta Quadrant and space in the Alpha Quadrant I don't see why they couldn't be built in the Aplha Quadrant. Except for the obvious which is a 'lesser' Borg presence meaning less resources to build them.

I like the directional AoE idea. I do miss those.

Aye, a wave that you can try and fly around or away from, while stations cannot would be a nice addition or replacement for some special abilities (or for a new faction's/avatar's)
