Subclass system/New Ship

Idea is very early phase, i just thought of it quite recently. Haven't really gone to deep with it.
A ship that involves a subclass system whereby this new ship is moulded by the ships around it, *i.e. needing to have ships around it.
A fairly benign ship on its own. Moderate in values, abilities, and such.
However, it's a gem when you get ships to fly alongside it. Having ships come near it boosts its systems. Similar to how the Tavara upon veteran gains specials of nearby Warbirds, this ship simply becomes stronger when surrounded.
No real further specifics on how much more powerful or what happens just the concept itself.
So with a subclass part of the idea. It could be a dual thing. There is this new singular ship, and a subclass of ship that could specifically cater to it, or it could just be related to normal ships. So two new ships, one singular, the other a ship class that is built on mass to support the singular ship. Or one singular ship, and in some way, regular ships serve as a subclass that feed it.
If we go subclass ship. Something a bit more hefty than fighters perhaps? Something like a support fighter. The fighters don't attack the enemy ship, they support the mother ship and give her extra strength. Something like what a newton does, with repair tractor beam. Something cheap to build, upgradable, possibly a limit of say nine.
So this one ship is a carrier, but the sub class it carries is build able. Then depending on having 3 supporting ships or 10 or whatever, the carrier is great for its purpose/niche, or superawesomefantastic. Subclass ships can be targeted to weaken the carrier.
Um. No thoughts for who gets it. or specifics of weapons etc. Again, just the concept.
Build ships like newtons, to support a ship like a descent? which also gets built.
The difference, is just that it would be new orientation for fleet construction. The idea might be relatable to the voyager episode against the Kazons??? where they use holoemitters to create fake ships which really helped out voyager. subclass
