Starship Evolution

Hey folks, I just got fleet ops aweek ago and man all I can say is... ( if only LEGACY was half  as good ) 
but anyway on to my request/sugestion thingy: What about giving starfleet ships the ability to evolve with the Leveling system?? ( NO i don't mean give them all transphasic torps to 1 shot cubes at L5 or super invincible future tech armor HAXX ) 
something like if a say galaxy class hits L3 it becomes the Venture Refit with an extra phaser or L5 and becomes the galaxy X and pops out a flashy new engin??
or for the excelsior ( the Warpin one ) let it evolve in to the lakota?? <--- yea i'll admit the lakota is my hole reason here

thats a good idea, and we may see it at sometime in the far future. But the A2 engine doesnt support model additions (like adding bits) you would need a whole new model, and the team has alot to do atm.

I think they are changing the models slightly once they hit a veteran rank.

Actually the leveling system already supports changes to the model, there could even be a construction animation as each level is a new odf.

However I'm against the idea, for a start every ship that levels up shouldn't necessarily get a refit perhaps having the option and having them return to a refit yard maybe, but I do kinda think it should remain as it is going to be in patch 3.0.6

And I shudder to think the galaxy X might ever be in FO, such a horrible, horrible ship.

Blah i agree. When i said that they are changing the models slightly I don't think they are refits but the just look different. Just look through the news posts i believe that it was mentioned there.

yea I know its not an idea we'll see soon but i think it'd be nice eventuraly 
I mean its jsut that theres SO many starfleet ships and variations ofthem  I was thinknig it might acturaly clear some space and alow more of those ships we want to see from TV with out elevating starfleet to multiplayer god hood 
and yea nothing too complicated just a new model for acouple of the odf rank thingys for example
Miranda class:
Rank 1 the one we all saw getting raped in DS9
Rank 3 give her a soyuz class model
Rank 5 make it a miranda II
Excelisor class:
Rank 1 we all know old faithful 
Rank 3 Lakota 
Rank 5 Excelsior II
I mean its like adding 6 ships known and loved at the cost of 2, the only down side i can see is that if start out as the old classics they'll prolly be crying ZOGWTFPWNTBBQ befor they ever level into anything cool

I think this is a pretty nifty idea, and it wouldn't just have to be for the Federation. I can easily see the Klingons, the Romulans, and even the Borg adopting this as well. The only race in-game right now I can't see it jiving with is the Dominion.

BTW, if there are any Galaxy-X haters out there who want to see how I managed to balance my dislike for the design with a (rather silly) implementation of it as part of the standard timeline, PM me and I can send you the mini-history I wrote up for the goofy-looking thing.

Too bad the Galaxy-X isn't in, it would be decent as a Level-5.
