Starbase Shields

In an earlier thread we spoke about possibly extending mining base shields around freighters.  Would not it be great to have an upgrade on starbases to extend shields around ships that are nearby? - Think the Defiant at DS9. 

I am not sure if this is an engine issue or not....perhaps shields for friendly ships could recharge faster near a starbase to simulate the effect?

Any thoughts?

yep shield extension is something we would also like, cause it happens in StarTrek on a regular basis perhaps in a future version
