Starbase and more

I was playing again(big surprise! lol), and I got to looking at the Fed starbase.  What about something like maybe when you upgrade it, it goes through stages of appearance?  Like say..you do 1 weapon, 1 defense upgrade on it it changes to..I don't know the Regula class station.  Then when you fully upgrade it its appearance changes to the large cone starbase.

More was I was wondering what happened to the "vessel movement" option.  There used to be an option you could turn on and off that would have the ships move around during combat instead of just picking one spot and sitting there firing.

Hmm I imagine this is probably on the to do list, much like Vessels are going to be changing (in terms of design) through there stages of ranking up.

I'd think it its something there working on  :thumbsup:

Number one has been discussed before, but I don't believe there are any plans to change the appearance at the moment - perhaps for something far off. There is a mod in progress... but its developer (Redmanmark) has been quite busy as of late, so it will be delayed. Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Meet the Starbase!

Number two is on todo to fix for quite some time, but is low priority - quite difficult to re-add "Developer's Cut".

Re-add? Shouldn't be too hard, the Devs did take it out after all, I wonder why?

Nah, they only "took it out" because it is completely incompatible with the current coding (i.e. it didn't work). Same dealio with certain formations I believe.

the good old starbase mod, not long till xmas and my work load will go down for me to get back on to that...

neway directors cut is hard to return because the code to make it work was taken out by stupid Maddoc, the code isn't in the engine anymore...

never played the original A2 so can't comment, but i thought MadDoc removed it to add loads of formations instead...

I promise you that you can get your ship to move in a cicle, strafing back and forth, and in a clover leaf shape when attacking another ship. It's all there.

Yeah that's indeed true - but I think it's still broken for FO  :sweatdrop:

Hmm, I don't know actually  :blush: . Never bothered to ask Optec, but we have a few quotes from him about it:

Indeed... In concept this is an awesome feature... in actual implementation not so much.
