Some raw Ideas

#1: Fighters for the Starbase
Instead of adding a quantum torpedo launcher there will be hangars for 4 or maybe 8 fighters. The fighters will act within the sensor range of your base (or star base)


#2: New type of a defence station.
It is an unarmed but heavy shielded station that builds and supports fighters.
If possible, the player can mark an area that should be protected - a mining station for example.
If the mark is not used, the fighters will defend all nearby stations in sensor range automaticaly


#3: Defence special weapon - Photonic shockwave
Fires a photon torpedo on a following group of enemy ships.
The torpedo is shot with a phaser than.
The explosion causes small shield and hull damage to the targets, and disables their weapons and engines for 5 seconds.
Maybe long enough to get out of their weapon range.



Note: This ideas are raw - they are not balanced for all fractions or something. I hope some of it is interesting :)

if you were to have fighters for a star base they could just be sniped off. so they would either have to be replaced a lot faster than the avalon or in greater numbers or shielded

What if that fighters have:
- a get-hit-chance around 20%
- fast regenerating shields
- a 35% chance to ram a nearby enemy ship when the fighter is nearly wrecked?

Suggestions:

#1: Surrounding stations could equip some "support-emitters" on their primary hull.
That emitters would generate a field that buffs the fighters.

#2: Surrounding stations could share their sensor data with the fighters making them much harder to hit and increases their offense value.

#3: Star base fighters are equiped with tech that generates fake-readings of none existings ships - causing target-lock-sensor irritation of enemy ships

I had the same idea, though for my mod.

That's the possibility for all fighters. Also, starbases should have a couple in reserve to launch in case they lose a few.

What if that fighters have:
- a get-hit-chance around 20%
- fast regenerating shields
- a 35% chance to ram a nearby enemy ship when the fighter is nearly wrecked?


I just set mine to have about 0.01 hit chance, but then again, they do little damage. As for the ram, it may not be possible to use that in the code. If you equip it as a weapon, then if the fighter gets too close during its attack run, it'll kill itself regardless of health.

Its called an ECM. (Electronic Counter Measures) I think some ships are equip with it. A rudimentary version should work on fighters.
