This game is absolutely awesome!
The only set back that I can see is, I would like to zoom out a little more to see what's going on.  The original Armada II was able to zoom out to see more of the playing field.  Also I would like to see the trading station return because I would like to be able to transfer resources like in the original Armada II.
With the trading station, I was able to sell one resource to buy another because I have seen it where you have too much of one resource but not enough of the other.  These two small things would be great.

Trading stations will likely be back later when a suitable place is worked out for them.

You can trade resources through the in-game comm menu.

Awesome!
So how where do I go to trade my resources?  Your last post stated that I can do this in the comm menu but I am not sure where it is.

You can trade resources to another player through the comm menu, but you can't buy/sell resources you have too much/too little of like you could with the trading station.

You give them resources, they give you some of theirs in return. Sounds like a buy/sell to me, just more of a bartering version.

It's not a direct trade in the 'click and both resources change' sense, the menu has a list of resources at the side so you can give them to another player (needs to select which one) then they give you theirs. You can use the + & - buttons to choose how much of your resources are sent.

The comme menu is the button with a little person image in the top right of the screen. It's a much more 'hands-on' approach than the trading station version.

welcome to the forums lackster40. hope you enjoy your time here.

this is what the comm menu looks like:

click the arrow-in-the-box of player you want to give to, then the arrow will now point to them and any resource you click will give the number of it to them. if u try give more than u have it will give all yours leaving you with 0. do this if you get wiped out of a team game, maybe a borg player can put together a hasty cube lol

the ability to give res like this has to be turned on in game options.

sharing res is very useful in team games as if u more of one resource and they have more of the other you can balance it out and maximise use of your res. or if u have way too much of 1 resource and they have very little of either, give them some of your surplus anyway, it might just help them use some res.

swapping dil for metal in vanilla a2 was a bit too easy imo. i hope when trading comes back that there is a more restricted way to turn dil into tri and vice versa.

currently if build mostly combat ships you are likely to have loads of tri and very little dil. that only means one thing, go on a research spending spree :D combat ships cost more dil and research costs more tri. so research specials for your ships and research general upgrades like weapons and shields. that way you make your tri surplus do something useful.

players usually defend tri less, so if the enemy harasses your tri and leaves you with a surplus of dil then stop researching for a while, stop teching up if possible, and stop making support ships (which cost more tri). if u have a stupid amount of dil to blow then consider putting a yard at an expansion you dont have a yard at yet, usually one closer to the enemy than your current closest yard. yards cost mostly dil, and even if you dont build from it, it will add durability to a location as defending ships can cycle in and out of the yard repairing. and any attacks from enemies will usually focus on the heavy defence yard first, delaying them for ages, or forcing them to accept they wasted firepower not destroying the yard lol.

Not in a 1vs1  :whistling: I was just pointing out that you can't do it indefinitely the way you could with the trading station as you a) have to have an ally and b) your ally has to have the resource you want

What about the zoom out feature?
Is there a way to go into the files and change something so that I can zoom out farther to get a bigger field of view? :borg:

There is, but you won't be able to play online after changing that -

Miscellaneous Configuration Elements - The Hitchhiker's Guide to Fleet Operations

Happy modding! :)

I'm glad to read that the trader stations returns.. I hope the Trading ships will return as well.

It would offer another possibility for strategic raids and getting some additional cash ingame.

For example for every fly by between allied stations you get like 10 Dil & 10 T. The player however should be only able to send trader ships between allies not that he creates 2 stations himself and gets cash for that. And of course the good old resource exchange.
