interstellar radiation flies around space, but with thick hulls like in star trek its not powerful enough to move a ship. solar sails can use light like in DS9: explorers, hammock time!!!

breaking through asteroid fields sounds interesting.

Well, there were ALL sorts of cool phenomena we saw. Quantum strings, gravitational waves, pulsars, that  device that propelled your ships into warp for a few seconds etc. All of these could have a myriad of nice effects in FO :)

remember the next gen episode with the emergent intelligence that took over the computer and turned the holodeck into the orient express and nearly ran over picard and data? well in that episode was a random radiation anomaly that nearly destroyed the ship and the intelligence saved the ship by moving it out of the way, if the intelligence hadnt conveniently been there the ship would have just randomly exploded? put that in fleet ops :whistling:

imagine random ships exploding with no way to predict it.

myleswolfers wrote:3 (maybe)) a wild idea would have black holes cause time anomalies, where being near one makes time go slower for u. the ability to stop time is available from the premonition's special, could it be adapted to merely slow time down. an easy way would be to make the black hole occasionaly use the premonition's special to stop everything nearby.

Sounds like the good old desynchronising lagging days of A2! It was often the case that myself and my mate, would be building tons of defenses to secure a grossly large territory, again another friend who "appeared" to be going a bit slowly and retarded, as the borg. Then only, to find that time suddenly caught up and our entire bases were destroyed instantly by a ton of Borg Cubes and Fubes which magically phased into reality as the lag between pc's faded. Apparently, he had spent the last 10 minutes destroying everything, while we'd seen those minutes as a walkover expansion!

We should re implement game breaking, crippling lag as a new feature :). Actually no... Though I would like a form of time dilation, I can't think of a way to do it realistically and in a balanced manner.

Another thing I'd like is something like a Particle Fountain or those gravitational eddies from the Badlands.

Can't stress enough how important the Pathing ability is though. I could do so much more if only I had the ability to dynamically animate my star systems! I'd like jetstreams, black holes, pulsars, new nebs/asteroids and Eddy too.

are u kidding game crippling lag is what made vanilla so cool

its win win, u thought u were winning and ur enemy thought he was winning too  :woot: no losers. how totally AWESOME is that?

I had an out of sync game like that once.  Myles is right:  When both of you win, everybody wins.  It's great! B)

fleet ops prides itself on being a tolerant community, i mean we accept mal, enough said :P

we should allow games where no matter who blows what up, everyone wins.
