Hello devs, and fellow posters. I starte thinking about 3.1 and 3.15 and its ideal possibilities. So I propose some easy fixes I'd like done, and maybe an idea of my own.

Generic Fixes:
  • Fix a small bug of the Vutpa class (and dom refit) of having inter-rank selection problems.
  • Do some rebalancing...
  • Do some tweaking of the NPC things (see below for details)
NPC Fixes:
- Fix the Breen turret problem
- Have the NPC Breen's special weapons no longer require Dominion research. (Because that has been a bit annoying)
- Have the NPC Ferengi be given rankup (I'll be happy to provide more information further down the post)


My Idea: "Expanding the Veteran's table"

Now, I'm sure everyone knows the replace weapon .(more information here: //www.fleetops.net/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,3/topic,3545.0/)
The Question is, how many know that it can be programed to turn one ship into one of various different versions? So this is the bridge I'll use to propose expanding the Veteran's table! :D

Some people can get tired of the same old veterans. I don't know wwho else is, but I kinda did. So I thought that maybe we can expand things. Because there are some things that I think everyone would like. So I was thinking about having at least three possible Veterans for each class. What is the difference? The difference is what they gain. So how would I classify these different kinds?

Offensive Veteran: A veteran that has gains swayed more towards offensive capabilities.
Defensive Veteran: A veteran that has gains swayed more towards efensive capabilities
Support Veteran (for support ships only): A veteran that gains more special abilities to better support the fleet.
Passive Veteran: A veteran that gains various passive abilities to greater boost its effectiveness in combat.

Now, where do these things lie? Well, take for example the Sovereign Class (who doesn't like it anyway). Now this would get an Offensive, Defensive, and Passive as its possibilities. The current veteran I personally would call a passive veteran, what about the others? I was thinking of the Sovereign getting multi-targeting phasers via its Offensive version. Plus it could also be given the ability to (maybe) launch a shuttle craft to act as a small lightly armed fighter. For the Defensive version, we bring back the Sovy's Reflector Sheild! :D That is right! An old favorite for Armada 2 stock fans, the ability to deal back some of the enemy's own shots. But for the sake of balance there would be a 5 second limit.

Now, for support vessels. Take for instance, the Romulan Generix Support refit. Now we talk about the Support veteran, this means it gains 2 or more additional special abilities. The Devs can decide on that one. Now, I am uncertain if it is a defensive, or offensive supportship. Which ever it is gives which of the first two types of veteran. But all ships have a passive veteran. No questions asked, because I know how the devs like passive abilities. So every ship gets a passive veteran regardless of how good or how bad of a ship it is.

Now, I mentioned the Ferengi having veteran statuses, well, a lot of people would agree that the Ferengi have a wide variety. So you are talking about various different Veteran Ferengi types. Some would have tech from other races, some from their own, some completely new. But I'm trying to put some logic into this. So the devs can probably come up with a solution.

I'd like to hear about what you guys think. ;) And please, think about how this can greater expand FO. :)

even though those patches are a long way off those are some good ideas and are needed to be looked at by the devs.  :thumbsup: :thumbsup:  :D

the inter rank selection error is probably an odf error try looking at the odfs that do not work and look at the command for originalclass and ensure that it matches the other odfs for that class

It is present.... must be something deaper in the code. Anyway, what do you like of my ideas?

old veterans :blink: you knot that they are.. well, quite new

while i like the basic idea of randomized veterans, i dont think thats something we will do within the next patches.. but we have some other features prepared for you :) I dont want to extend the experience system endless, I like the dimension it has now

I just think it would be nice to have a wider variety of veterans so you can almost never get bored with what you get.

i get your point, however i am also quite content with the feature as it currently is. still there will be some additions to the (veteran) ranking system in the next versions to make it more interesting

the issues you have mentioned are either fixed or on the todo to be fixed.
