I have some ideas for wormholes

- random place appearance - you set in the editor some wormholes at side A, connect it and say that only one should appear on game start, the same on side B (the wormhole from side A is connectet with side B - enter and left wormhole)

- random time appearance - like its say, the wormhole open and closed randomly

- selected gametime apperance - the wormhole are open after a selected time after game start

- random connections - you have A, B and C on side 1 and X, Y and Z on side 2. At the game start the wormholes from Side 1 and 2 are randomly connected, example: A with Y, B with X and C with Z.

- one way wormholes - don't see the exit, because it only open it, when a ship arrives

- combine the features above

I think with such a wormhole system you can build much more interesting maps. ;)

Good ideas there Balmung, these may be implemented in the later editions but probably not any time soon due to the rebalancing efforts in the next couple of patches.

However, the random openings of the wormhole exits is a great idea.

No complaints from me! Assuming we'd have all of those features, the one-way idea could make for some interesting situations :D

One way wormhole? The only One way wormhole I'd be interested in is the one from Birth of the Federation, where it is one way because your ship doesn't come out...

I see the future...

I see Nirvana II absolutely screwed up, unless this "feature" has to be expressly enabled in a map. I wouldn't want this as default behaviour for wormholes.

Not a toggle feature (FO team seems to hate those...), more like a seperate Wormhole for each seperate feature.

I have no complaints, as long as current behavior stays. It's to replacing wormhole behavior that I have objections.

If it's an addition, no problem. We can have "stable" and "unstable" wormholes. After all, both are canon. :)

EDIT: Every time I see your sig, you remind me of Curzio Malaparte. He wrote "War is beautiful, but uncomfortable".

The default is of course the normal wormhole, this are more for special maps like mission/scenery maps. I like it to play with friends coop style against the AI, but there are not much maps out for such matches, the most maps are too symmetric.

I believe in fact that all those features are currently possible - Megadroid announced a few months ago that he had been working on and had enabled random wormholes - and I bet the other features are possible as well if they are also made as "mission events" . If everything is on course, I'm betting when the "switch" is reintroduced next patch, some maps like this should pop up :)

Sounds nice, i self will make some maps, when i tested out what is possible with the editor and whats not. Have some ideas for more like Mission maps and some requires such wormholes (some type not all).

I think this exact thing is already able to do in the basic scripting of Armada. In one of the good ol' Armada 1 missions, there was a set of wormholes whose destinations were able to be set to random. As for one-way wormholes, in another A1 mission, I remembeer going through a tucked-away wormhole in a corner of the map, and Picards saying, "The wormhole is collapsing!" Another example of that scripting already in the Armada system. Should just take the right amount of looking to implement it.
