i challenge u to a friendly game (best of 5 to be honest
) of starcraft. i havent played starcraft seriously since high school (5 years) (not counting 30 games with deimos, but it was for fun
)
this is a serious business
. really !!! if u accept it will influence how i will treat ur posts in the future. if u refuse... well u cant refuse cuz it would mean that u r a chicken
, right?

I highly doubt that how I play Starcraft will change how you perceive/treat my posts. If you think that in order to address my posts you need to play Starcraft with me, then I question your veracity for Fleet Operations. Maybe I should say then that I require you to play all the factions (and avatars) consistently (or at least even once) in order to talk about Fleet Operations balance? Of course not. That would be rude and illogical. Your challenge doesn't seem very friendly in my opinion. Nevertheless I'll think about it--if I have the time, I'll go ahead and install Starcraft just for you.
As you seem eager to get a reply out of this: I really don't mind if you think I'm "chicken" (have I ever refused a game from anyone?)--I've just never seemed to enjoy any of our games in the past because you seem to be too eager to compete and win as soon as possible and never want to sit down and have an enjoyable game.

thats pretty sad

i dont think anything good will come out of this so sorry for all that. the thing i dont like is that u say that starcraft is "too limiting, too repetitive, and it forced you to play only one particular style". u should really be a veteran of starcraft to say something like this or just doesn't know this game at all cuz its quite the opposite of what u say imo and i played it quite a lot.
my post was meant to be more funny then offensive, sorry again if it turn out bad. u obviously know FO better then me, i know and admit that. let's just not continue this as it's pointless.

if u say what u said about a game and have completely no idea how to play it that actually means something. at least for me.

i just dont get how this get in a way of having fun and playing enjoyable game.
I was merely responding to your statement which seemed to imply you make a distinction between "fun" games and "competitive" games mate

No no, you completely misunderstood me. My aim was not to stomp you into the mud: everybody's opinion's are valuable. Just because I disagree with you doesn't mean your thoughts don't have merit. Even if I did know FO better, it doesn't make it wrong for you to post your opinions and suggestions--I'd say the forum would become pretty boring if only people who really knew the game posted. Heck, how would anybody learn more? I think you are taking my comments on your suggestions a little too personally.

In regards to StarCraft, I've had the game since 1999 (well... purchased Brood War later of course) and I did play it a lot for a few years. However, it never suited my fancy. Whether I played online or with friends in LAN (or the missions) I saw myself using the same strategies without fail... and I got bored. The fact that there is a population cap and that minerals run out (and gas almost does) only makes things more limiting. The patches helped, but in all honesty the game did not capture and hold my attention because I never felt free to utilize more than a narrow set of strategies. Not to mention the redundancy of units in my opinion and the downright horrible pathfinding. I still don't see what my ability to play the game at the moment has to do with my ability to comment on the game when I played it years back.
Indeed Warcraft 3 and AoE had the same failings (well, Warcraft 3 wasn't really an RTS, and AoE had almost identical units and structures for each faction...)
if u r good at starcraft u r good at pretty much any rts.
I have rarely found this to be true honestly. I have played many of Chinese and Taiwanese Starcraft players who were quite good at the game... and yet who absolutely stunk at other games. I don't think it'd be fair to say this about any game really: you can't expect to be good at all FPSs just because you are good at CS.
I think the later part of my argument is detracting from your initial post, so if you wish me to delete it after you've read it, just let me know

Yup, I love that pic. There's one with a kitten that's equally as amusing in my opinion... I won't let on any more hints though
