* Show map size in game setup/lobby
-- As an observer I want to know the map size, but have to ask/annoy people. I wish I didn't have to.

* when downloading a map prompt for UAC credentials when needed,
-- FleetOps was installed via the Administrator account (b/c of the UAC prompt at setup), giving the folder Administrator ownership. I operate Windows in a non-admin account (for security reasons) and so when I run the game (with non-admin ACLs) and I need to download a map, the program doesn't have the privileges to write to the map dir (b/c it has admin as owner). FO should prompt with the UAC prompt to get the required elevated privileges.

Agreed with the second. I can't even edit maps, because the computer supposedly doesn't have correct permissions, although I am administrator...

Thats more to do with the fact that your files are write protected unless im mistaken

I think UAC is only on Vista.  If it's on Windows 7, it's a lot less annoying (and not an issue) or I would have heard about it.

7 has UAC, just they learned a lot of lessons from their mistakes in vista that caused most people to turn UAC off.
