Small Dominion Request

Is it alright if in a future patch the Dominion starbase can have its exit path face vertical like all the other races? Normally it's not much of a big deal, but on certain maps (particularly the current tournament map) It either leaves that at a massive disadvantage or super advantage as they'll either be much closer or further from the starting dilithium moon when their miners come out.

The very fact that a couple of seconds travel time can ever count as a 'massive disadvantage' further illustrates why I LOATHE rushing and second-by-second build orders.

While I do agree you with, TUN about how it can cause a problem, I don't think it's THAT bad
. Especially for Dominion because they can build stations quickly and expand incredibly fast.
I am hoping to make a request soon that the Map editor be given a function for starting points that allow you to dictate by map how each starting position spits out your starting ships.

Hehe it's not that bad really I guess, I was just being a drama queen because I like the Dominion so much.

Part of the reason I've wished that FO could have rotatable building footprints so we can self-determine the orientation of structures. Given how congested some maps can get, I think it would add a lot to being able to produce a strategically designed base. Though I'm no modder and I'm not even sure if that's possible with A2's engine ^^;

It is possible to rotate stations in the map editor so I imagine there's code somewhere that could allow it to be done in game. The devs would probably have to add some things to allow for rotation in game though, not to mention limits on vertical rotation. I admit that I would be in full support of rotatable stations.

I vaguely remember talking about rotatable station placements before (probably back in August). It is a feature the devs will put in at some time in the future IIRC. They just have more important things to work on for now, like making station placement not affected by ships.

The rotation of a base can also be very good in certain map positions, where you have enough space to left and right, but not above and under.... yo umay place a starbase, where it couldnt be in normal circumstances. I think, its a nice idea...
