Should the other four miners carry different amounts of reso

This is just something that i've been thinking about recently. Just by comparing the four miners next to each other they should not all be carrying the exact same amounts of resources. Im thinking maybe they would carry +/-10% di and +/- 5% tri from each other. I just think it adds some diversity in a mostly negected area.

Im just musing here so, im sure many of you might not like it, then again I might be surprised.

If the devs like it and wouldn't mind doing it, cool. If they don't like it, cool.

Interesting idea i think as long as they still all mine the same amount of resources that that would be cool. Maybe one has a larger cargo bay one, moves faster, and one could mine faster.

Keep in mind it's one more thing that people are going to screw up. Even after everything we've said, some people still think that two or four miners are optimal  :whistling:

 If you try to act blind, you'll soon find yourself walking into poles (or polls). :P

He means 'what if the non-Borg miners (i.e. the other four types of miners - as there are 5 factions) had different cargo holding capacities' :)

i see.

im neither for nor against the idea, as long as res per minute is the same.

That would make sense to me, since they're different sizes and the cargo bays likely are too.

I actually like the idea as it's a reasonable one with both logic in lore and gameplay, however for now I'm against it as it seems to "fix somethin' that ain't broke" :D

There are alot of issues that need to be worked out in fleetops atm and the amounts of resources a miner can carry doesnt strike me as anywhere near as important but its a decent enough idea for the future.

Last two posts are good points but indeed perhaps something nice for the future just to give some more differences.  As Myles said, if res per second remains the same then the changes remain mainly cosmetic so no balance issues should arise... although creative players can always find something to cause the devs extra work

There was an idea not long ago about raiding miners for resources which was interesting as well.

I also had an idea once about making a "light miner", quick and fragile but with very limited cargo space, which could fly half way across the map to swipe a few resources and get back... if you built like 20 of them you could keep a storage dock busy... but then i asked myself the all important question... why ffs would anyone want to do that?  :D

Yep!  A good idea it is :).

I think something like this would fit better into the full race redoes that Optec's been talking about.  I think then would be a better time because it sounds like it should be a pretty thorough change where  fundamental thing like mining rates can be looked at better :).
