Ships like Akira and Nebula should get the ability to change their modules. Maybe they could be build without a module and then the player has to choose it.

Now the Nebula has a sensor module, thats ok, but a pulse phaser on a sensor module doesnt fit in my opinion.
And the Akira should get the possibilty to become a cruiser with many torpedo tubes.

If refits are reserved for Romulans, ignore this idea.

Personally I like the Idea.  The Galaxy should have the ability to upgrade to Venture refit as well.  The Idea of pods for the nebula is a old Idea that has been floating around, and it is a good, cannon, Idea.  I had never considered it for the akira, but I supose it could work.

Another Idea.  If you look, there are two other ships with sensor pods.  The phalnax, and the descent classes.  I think if the nebula can, those ships should be able to do so as well.

I don't think it should be only for the romulans either.  I think Federation should be able to do it as well.

What about that little pod on the back of the vorcha? or on the back of the neghvar?  Or what about the old Feklhr surly we could bring that to all of the races?

would fit well to the akira, at least in my sight: Sceince, torpedo or carriermodule. About the nebula i think its clear: weapons pod, sensor pod.

Actually it would have to be an extra impulse drive not warp nacelle but I like that idea, nebula does seem kinda slow, even tho it is similar in volume to the Galaxy class.

The more variations the better. It makes the game more sophisticated and therefor more fun. Different modules for every ship or at least some ships. It would make ships more specialized and the strategies would get more complicated since you would have to come up with new counters to you opponent's strategy.
Sounds good to me.

I agree cinzano8472 the game needs some more complexity added to it, but it needs to be balanced out to keep the newer people from being confused

True... it could scare some new players away. Well, how about this: ships would have some default "equipment" as it is now and you could modify it but if you don't want to waste your time with it, you wouldn't have to.

It would be like learning the game as you play. You don't need to know everything to play successfully.

i like this the nebula has a sensor module but it can be outfitted with weapons instead and what about a torpedo cruiser refit for the akira? i think youll find the pod on the neghvar is meant to contain an ion cannon it says so in the description on starfleet command 3

What was that? Now I can see the 3 different versions of Nebula class starship, but a moment before there was an interesting warning picture from trekmania.net  :D

That web site does that.  Oh, and I don't think that the one with extra naclles was ever actually seen in the show, but I do distinctly remember seeing it on picards desk.
