Ship rank bars

This is mostly an asthetic thing, but I think each race needs its own little rank bars for the ships, in style I mean. The silver and gold works fine for the Federation, but is out of place for the others. The other races should have bars whose style reflects their race, that's all. And I don't mean a silver bar with a green or a red hue, I mean a whole different style.

wel already tried that, but as the icons are quite small, its hard to make something really visible that looks good. therefore we decided to make uniform cross-faction icons (basically the bars dont fit to the federation too, as they use pins for their ranks )

Oh well, thought I'd throw it out there; but at least for the Federation, the style is in keeping. I will say though that if you made the map backgrounds lighter you would solve part of your visibility problem.

Lighter backgrounds + Gold/silver bars = more visible?

No, lighter backgrounds + whatever color and design you want = more visible. Besides the bars would stand out even on a lighter background.

i proposed i similar idea as well and it was shot down for the same reason. But with regard to the GUI i would prefer that it stay relatively neutral.

i guess its allready technically possible to have different icons for each races gui or in fact for each race them selves (either add the rank icon entries to each races gui folder this would give the effect of the icons being different to match each races gui or add several entries for each race since the fo team have stated there is no real max for the ranking system you could use the entries for rank 1-6 as feds, 7-12 for klingon 13-18 for dominion and 19-24 for rommies and this would give the effect that each race has there own pips or recognition for each rank)
