Ship naming

Hey guys.

Is there any tool of some sort of command or whatever that lets you modify the ship name ingame?

I doubt it can be changed after start. Not the way it is, at least.

Well, I know how to edit the variable names in the odfs, (I edited the federation ships and gave them canon crew and some ship names from the series) but I don't know how to add any sort of ship to the game and make it usable.

there is currently no way to do that.
in singleplayer it is possible by switching into map editing mode (aka cheat mode).
