Hi all, im new to this game and I must say you have done a brilliant job so far. Im particular liking the changes you did to the Borg, giving them no shields but a stronger hull, giving it that realism in the tv series/films compared to Armada 2.

One thing bothers me tho during the fights and that is ship on ship action. Say you have 10 V 10 ships or whatever and they start shooting at each other, they dont move or take evasive action, they just stay still until one side is destroyed or retreats. So I was wondering if you have any plans on adding Defensive Patterns/Offensive Patterns (No I dont mean special abilitys like the Akira), something similar to the cloverleaf tactic etc in Armada 2.

Eg In the UI where the special weaponry anatomy is you could add a "Defense Pattern blabla" button so while your ship is retreating you select this option and it gains something like 20% increased evasion from weapons fire and the ship mimics that selection by moving in a strafing fashion, evading weapons while moving to its destination. Obviously while this is active you have to put a penalty to something like weapon strength to balance it out.

Basicly I just want the ships to similate ship on ship combat. I mean in the film First Contact you didnt see the Federation Fleet shooting at the Borg Cube without moving, they were circling, moving in and out etc.

Any thoughts are welcome :)

Sorry to crash the party, yet this has been brought up numerous times. Unfortunately I believe there is no proper way to code this at the moment (yet plans are in motion for some ships with those avoidance specials being able to do this), and their are also balance issues to keep in mind (would you really like your Akiras dodging those torpedoes, only to end up flying into range of that Starbase over there?). Consequently, even though this would be beautiful to see... it might be better off just in a game like Legacy (or in a movie), rather than in a game where once you send your ships to a location, you'd like them to stay still. However, if some sort of fleet tactic buttons were added which would put your ships into this situation, I don't think there would be many problems in the way of balancing (that way you could toggle it on and off at will)... however, there is the aforementioned problem of coding ...  :crybaby:

we've had a thread recently about that feature exactly -> Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Directors Cut?

The whole 'evasion' bit in FO can be described as If we stand still, enemy weapons will fire away from us.

There is a reason spacebattles are considered risky.
