I think both FO and Armada 2 all ships have always turned very similarly. I think that ships could have different maneuverability capabilities that would be determined by the ship's size and speed. Faster and smaller ships would turn like they do now, but bigger and clumsier ships would either turn very much slower or need more space to make faster turns or both.

Any thoughts?

Oh I've always kind of agreed, though I think that it's actually much harder than that to actually implement.

If I recall correctly there are some ODF lines that govern such kinds of turning and such, but it's been maybe 10 years since I was really mucking around in them.

I wouldn't mind seeing large vessels like Dominion Dreadnoughts and such take an extra half-second or so to make a full 180 :).

The physics files deal with things like acceleration and turning. Both A2 and FO have type-specific physics, except FO ones only vary in speed and nothing else.

Aye, would be nice to see more realistic movement. If I'm correct, some of that is on the todo list, as the Devs don't like the current physics system.

Is there not a physics modification for stock A2? if so could it not be looked at or permission gained to use it?

It would be best if they made their own.

yes it gives more strategy if this is done

but

won't we have a fleet ops of unbalaced 'who has fastest' ships?(which by the way makes it so people actually start using low tech vessels before pumping into adv crap)

cuz if you havne't noticed fleetops right now is.. who can spam more  :sweatdrop:
