The idea is to make carriers in FO more realistic - one of my personal pet peeves in any game is unrealistic carriers. Now, don't get me wrong, I think the replaceweapon is a great innovation, but it really gets to me that you can't have truly realistic carriers.

Certainly true.

I would like to see a fully functional snub fighter "squadron" or "wing" system (ideally the same as Empire At War or Homeworld) before that though... However much fighters and carriers are a lesser part focus of the game. If all that's focused on is improving the major features, then nothing else will ever happen! :D

I think he means that fighters are automatically deployed in combat... like the Protoss carrier actually

You mean how it use to do it?  Like in 3.0pr where the ship launched 3 fighters every 7 seconds(I think?)  That kinda makes it even more useless that it is. At the moment, you can actually build a defense of fighters to occupy borg cutting beams and such, but now it will only deploy them during combat?!?!? I hope they will be cheap. :lol:

Well, I think that's just the sort of thing it needs... perhaps they won't even cost resources anymore but will simply deploy when you click on a target to attack (or when they enter targeting range of any applicable enemies). If the second option is true, that would make them much more useful than they are currently. We'll have to wait and see, just hold on a bit more my friend :)  :thumbsup:

Automated sounds nice however will the fighters be automatically recalled or still  be left on the map after the carrier  has finished  battle? Or do we now have  a  manual recall button on the carrier?

Hmm like the carrier's in Sins of A Solar Empire. The fighters would follow the carrier around and when destroyed you'd build new ones from the carrier.

yep, it will be similar, but the fighters rebuild automatically ^-^
