As a non borg player give them a one hp shield;). That way we can't annoy his scout before we get a combat vessel.

i think this was already discussed about easy boarding of detector...

wasn't there a crew increase or something suggested?

My understanding is that you won't be able to transport onto detectors in the future, they just have to code that.

Well, i would think that transporting onto the dector wouldnt be an issue, the issue would be the number of borg would grow.....

a slightly more radical approach, how about make them like 8472 from stock, no crew, so no boarding. maybe recast the borg scout as an "automated ship". its not really automated, its controlled by the collective, but the biological components needed are small enough to be created or fashioned out of some other race they assimilated. and the biological components are integrated into the ship, so no life support systems inside for boarding parties.

the detector would be a mix of ship and single large drone.

I don't know Myles, nothing in trek suggests the borg use anything other than humanoid drones to provide work. An automated ship seems a bit unprecedented.

its certainly different.

but we never saw a detector in canon, we never saw small ships at all. well unless you count the episode with hugh but that was only 1 part of what could have been a bigger ship.

and the borg have assimilated some pretty weird species in their time, we just dont see them because its expensive to show non humanoids. maybe they assimilated a large species which could be integrated into a detector, kinda like the cylon raider in new BSG

It wouldn't be strange for them to have assimilated a sentient, spaceflight-capable AI. Artificial life is vulnerable to Nanites, too.

I support a fully automated detector.   No reason it needs crew if it was controlled by the collective consciousness anyway. It is a small enough ship.
