Right now when you play a skirmish game you can choose for a random or specific race.
The AI selects the avatar though.
Is it also possible to give the player the option to choose an avatar e.g. fed-Mason or fed-risner

I assume you first sentence meant that when you play against the AI, you can select the AI's race, but not its Avatar, giving the AI the option to choose it, but not to you.
And for "skirmish", I take you meant "instant action" single player.
I'm interested too in knowing if there is in the to-do list this option. As it is, you can play against the Borg for example), but you cannot decide which Directive is applied.

This has already been asked before, and I believe that it will be redone for a future patch

AI players in the next patch will select an "omni avatar" allowing them to build all vessels of all avatars
be prepared!

Hmm, and how does that go along with restricted units and benefits? Does that mean that the omni avatar gets, for instance, Breen vessels, tetryon torp plus two and V-13 Battleship bonuses? So basically a summation of all the benefits?
That will be one tough set of avatars

My mistake. Ra2/YR and Generals vocabulary in my head.

@ dominus.
I don't think the AI follows a traditional techtree. This means in the AIP files what ever you tell them to build they will build it.
Also, each avatat has a set of odfs for each ship, and they have different names. So I guess it will be randome like say for the vorcha.
first vorcha kil_vorchaZ.odf
second kil_vorchaY.odf
third kil_vorchaY.odf
fourth vorcha kil_vorchaZ.odf
Y and Z saying what avatar they belong to, and what upgrades they get. So I think either they will build them at random, (as close to random as a computer can be) or there will be a completely different of ships with their own atrabutes and upgrades.
Either way, it will be cool. I can't wate to see this. It will be a great challenge. :2guns:

It wasn't my intention to make fun of you, but to clarify what I understood you wrote. If you got the wrong impression, I apologize.

Not sure I understand your first point Adm. Zaxxon
about traditional techtree. I do understand the rest of your post though (I was unsure of whether they were going to do what you suggest--but that makes sense indeed)

I just mean, I don't think they have to have the correct reaserch done to build a ship. It can just build it at any time. Could be wrong though, cus I think doing this in stock would crash the game.

Yup, I believe that statement is correct: Mark's been telling me how he can get a construction ship to build a moon...

Hmm, I guess not as long ago as I thought. http://armada2.filefront.com/file/Nexum_4_Build_n_mine;90420 But still.

No problem. I used to mod quite a lot for Ra2/YR and i tend to get confused with the names in different games
