Continuing with the theme set by Megadroid and Mark, would it be possible to move some of your code (sp weapon code, maybe weapons code, ODF commands code) into Lua? it would make armada almost as moddable as Supreme Commander!

as odf items are mere config files, that wouldn't be of any help.
As a reminder: we do not have the armada source code. The new special weapons and similar stuff we added in the past are not as configurable as you might think, and it should be close to impossible to 'open' them up to lua without excessive testing and service coding, we do not have the time for, yet. The ODFs already allow to configure everyting thats possible, and it works well.

However we use our own language (FOScript) for compiling ODFs out of meta files. The latest version of the tool will use LISP (and FOScript) to generate the stuff and manage the database, but it will take a while to be ready for public ^-^

So that would mean that maybe, just possibly one day we could see lua coding? if so then that's more than enough for me! especially with the knowledge of that "FOScript" tool eventually being released for the public.

FOScript will be released, the question is just when :) I'm currently focusing on the FO Development, rather then completing a public version, but some day i will have some time to finish it ^-^

Sounds cool, look forward to it when it's released.

errr just incase i'm being an idiot but if FOscript is released would that mean we would be able to create our own codes or dse FOscript have nothing to do with that?

The tool handles the balancing and similar automated stuff, but its not related to the source code.
You could see it as some kind of ODF editor

that would be wicked, so much easier than having to set all the individual weapon damages manually as i know your editor does it all for you, you just put in the type of craft, your base values and so on and it just works away :)

Hey marK: until then you can use my command line tool if you want, its part of my modding kit. It's not as good as FOScript by a long shot, but it helps remove the tedious work associated with weapons modding.

not without the source code. and even then i would not willing to do such an interface, it would be a tremendous amount of work to create an interface that is really useful. you are quite flexible with the weapons currently available, if you have new ideas for a weapon, just post them in the feature request section. :)
